“Where is it?” he asked.

She walked through her bedroom and into the master bathroom.

He looked around and nodded.

“What?” she asked.

“I knew it was yours by the scent, but looking around, I can see it suits you.” He walked over to the deep bathtub and started the water. She saw him reach for some of her bath salts, read the bottle, open the lid, and smell them before he picked one he liked. Then he dumped some in the water, which instantly started to make bubbles.

He grabbed a towel, stood, turned to her, and wiped his hands. One of his brows spiked. “Do you need help?”

“You expect me to just disrobe in front of you? We hardly know one another.”

He clutched her shoulders. “You know I’m going to see you naked a lot. Sooner rather than later.”

“Maybe, maybe not.”

He scowled.

“Okay, probably,” she said. “That doesn’t mean it should start now.”

“If your problem is time, Baby, think of it this way. We’ve had two meals together.”

“I didn’t eat the lunch.”

“Now you’re pushing it. We’ve gone through an emotional time, and I comforted you. That’s more than most people have before they fuck. Besides, it’s not like anything is going to happen.”

“Why?” she snapped. Jesus, what is wrong with me?

He grinned at her disgruntled look.

“Because I refuse to have our first of many times be when you’re distraught. Let’s just take care of you tonight.”

Her breath caught when he started unbuttoning her blouse. She watched his eyes grow dark and heavy, and a flush of desire started to build as he undressed her. When she was naked, he stood back and let his eyes roam over her. She lifted her arms to cover herself but stopped when he shook his head.

“You’ll never do that again, Baby. Put your hair up unless you want it wet.”

She found a scrunchy, twisted her long hair into a messy bun, and clipped it in place.

He moved and turned off the water. He held out his hand. “Let me get you in.” Nick helped her steady as she stepped into the bathtub.

Her muscles instantly relaxed at the lavender scent he’d put into the water. He adjusted the bath pillow she had.

“Lean back.”

She did, and even more of her tension fled.

“I’ll be right back.”

She nodded and closed her eyes. Being with him like this and having him take care of her was making her fall in love with him already, and she didn’t know if that was a smart thing to do until she knew him better. Hell, she wouldn’t be able to prevent it unless he stayed away, and that’s the last thing she wanted.

Chapter Ten

Nick reached the kitchen, leaned against the cupboard, and dropped his head.

“How the fuck am I going to keep my hands off of her?” he said to himself.

Her body was perfect. She had slightly rounded hips, and her breasts were at least a handful. He kept telling himself this was for her, and if he wanted her to trust him, he needed to keep his word.
