He chuckled. “No, little squirrel. We’ll sleep in the same bed for the rest of our lives. Are you ready for that?”
“You make it sound like we’re getting married. You’ll just be living here.”
He pressed his hard cock into the crease of her ass. “Maybe at first. But eventually, we will get married. I just want to make sure it’s what we both want, so I don’t want to rush it.”
Nick nuzzled the side of her neck. “Can you handle me being in your bed every night and ninety percent of that time in your body?”
“You’ll let me sleep sometimes, though, right?”
“Eventually,” he murmured. He stepped back. “Let’s go. It’s too tempting being here right now.”
She set the glass in the drainer and followed him outside.
His phone rang before he got to his truck. He lifted her in, shut her door, and then answered it as he walked around the front of the truck.
“Yeah,” Nick said.
Jake snorted. “We have to work on that, dude.”
Nick grinned. “What’s up?”
“I just wondered if your woman told you about the incident in the farm store earlier?”
Nick’s brows rose as he opened his driver-side door, stood, and stared at her. “No, she did not.” He watched her tense.
Jake went through the incident and answered a few questions.
“Thank you. It seems I’m going to need a bit more help with her than I thought.”
Jake chuckled. “Call if you need me.”
“Thanks, man.”
Nick got in and shut his door before he turned to her. He could tell she knew what the conversation was about.
“Do you have anything you’d like to discuss?” he asked gently.
She pressed her lips together and shook her head. “No. I can’t think of anything.”
He had to bite the inside of his cheeks to keep from grinning. “That was Jake.”
“Okay.”
He almost snorted. She wasn’t going to give an inch.
“He said the two of you ran into each other in the farm store?”
She pretended to think about it and then nodded. “Yeah. I saw him briefly.”
“Babe, I’m trying to give you chances to come clean.”
Janessa frowned at him. “Why do I need to do that?”
He pulled her over to sit astride his lap, facing him. “I know it’s early in our relationship, but let’s get it straight right now that we are together, right?”
“Okay.”
“So that gives me certain rights. Correct?”
