Sienna cowered slightly at Teo's warning and took a sip of her wine. "I understand."
“I’ll take her to the clinic in a couple of days. Once we’ve had time to settle in.”
“You should take her to Arman’s clinic. He could use the help,” Mia suggested, and I nodded.
Teo took a sip of his wine as the wait staff brought in the first course. “There's going to be a Gala next month. I think that would make a good deadline for the doctor’s decision.”
"A gala?" I raise my brow curiously. "For what?"
“Mia thought that it would be a good way to celebrate the administrative changes. We will have music and dancing, a dinner, give gifts to the old administration, and formally introduce my new officers. But we want to make sure that Luca and the other men have a chance to heal first.”
"I see. Well, I'll make sure to let my men know."
"Good. Now, enough shop talk, let's enjoy our meal." Teo smiled and took a bite of his antipasto.
I took a bite and Sienna leaned closer to quietly whisper, "administration?"
I nodded, taking a sip of my wine before answering. "Administration is the term used for our leader or Don and the other powerful men who work with him. These are the men in charge of the lower capos."
“I see, and who all makes up the administration?”
“Well usually it is the don, underboss, and consigliere, but in this case the don and donna are equals so she is included as well."
"Will I be meeting the underboss and consigliere?"
"I'm sure that you will have your chance to meet them at the gala if not before."
"Will I be expected to attend the gala?"
"Of course. Matteo wants you to see what all this is about, what better way than when most of the family will be in one place? It will give you a chance to meet both the Venturi and Monticelli sides."
"But I don't have anything to wear to a gala. I don't really have anything to wear at all for that matter, since I wasn't given the chance to pack for thisspontaneoustrip." Sienna gave me a pointed look.
“I’ll have someone pick up some of the essentials for you. Just make a list."
“And I have plenty of dresses for you to choose from for the gala. I’m sure we can find something that you’ll like,” Mia added.
“Thank you. That’s very kind of you.”
“Good, then it’s settled. Thank you, Mia,” I said before digging into my meal.
Chapter 10
Sienna
I let out a heavy sigh as I stared at myself in the mirror. The light blue blouse and black slacks that Alessandro had bought for me probably cost more than my entire wardrobe back home. That didn’t even include the black heels and intimate attire. I still felt weird that he had picked out a bra and panties for me, especially when I saw the pretty, delicate lace, and assortment of colors, like someone was going to be seeing them while I was there. But, I didn’t have anything else to wear.
It was ridiculous to wear such expensive clothes to a medical clinic where I was going to be treating patients, but Alessandro wouldn’t even listen to my complaints.
A knock at the door startled me, and I spun around from the mirror. “Come in.”
Alessandro opened the door quickly. “Are you ready?”
“I think so.”
“Good. We’ll have a quick breakfast and be on our way.”
“Breakfast?”
