“Yes.”

I was wrapped around Soren. The forest smelled like fall. The air was crisp and cool, but he was warm, like my sunshine.

“Keep your head down.”

I could hear the laugh in Soren’s mind as he started to run. I kept my face close to his fur, smelling him, inhaling his wild, untamed scent mixed with the delight of the forest.

This was the first time I had experienced running this way. Soren crashed through the underbrush. Nothing could stop him. Nothing could stop us. I felt so deeply connected with this man who had become my world in just a few short days.

We flew through the forest. Soren jumped through branches and crashed against trees. Nothing had a chance against him. He was a titan. We eventually reached the edge of the river.

I heard him chuckle. “Hold on tight.”

“Don’t tell me that you plan to jump the river.”

“Yes, my love. Hold on.”

My body shivered at the mention of the word love.

“Think about me naked,” he said in my mind with a laugh.

“Oh, God.”

I barely had a chance to prepare myself. Soren took a few steps back before leaping. Then we were in the air. Drops of water hit my face, making me giggle. We landed on the other side of the river.

“Oh, my God. That was incredible.”

Soren chuckled again. I took a deep breath to calm my heart.

“I can feel your heart, my love. It’s such a beautiful sound.”

“Are we there yet?” My voice was shaky. Of course, it was. I had just flown over a river on the back of my wolf-shifter lover.

“Soon. Hold on, darling mate.”

I was already wrapped around him like a rubber band around a stack of cash. Soren started to run toward the top of the mountain. My hands felt numb. Blood rushed into my ears.

“Yana, you can open your eyes. I promise, it’s all good.”

“No.”

“Why not, my mate?”

“Fear of heights”

“You’re safe with me, mate. I promise. Now open your eyes.”

I barely dared to open one eye, slowly. When I did, all I could say was, “Wow.”

“Do you like it?”

“Yes. This is beautiful.

I jumped off Soren’s back. He had prepared a picnic. The area was decorated with candles that danced in the night.

“Oh, Soren.”

He stood next to me, naked, tall, strong, and sexy in his human shape. It was impossible not to lean into him and nuzzle his chest, inhaling his scent.
