The woman nodded in agreement.
“Hey, you guys,” Harley said. “If he acted like this, knowing he could get caught, don’t you think he’s actually raping women?”
“I think it’s something we should look into. I’ll ask one of the guys I know to keep up on the gossip around town,” Amelia said.
Tara waved to get their attention. “Let’s wait until she gets any information, but I’m sorry to say the guys will have to know, Jada. I’m sorry. Think of it like this—would the world be a better place with him gone?”
That was a good way of thinking about it. And Tara was right. The world would be safer without him around.
“Who should I go to?” Jada asked.
“You go to your man,” Zoe said.
“That’s another thing. I don’t know if Titan still wants me.” She told the rest of them about the night before and that morning.
“We’ll have to go to Fury, Traeger, and Dre,” Lindsey said. “Right, you guys?”
“Yeah,” the women said.
“I’ll go talk to Bear. He might know what’s going on around here,” Amelia said and stood. “I’ll be right back.”
Jada waited, and every minute felt like a day. She needed to know if the man hurt other women. Then she’d be okay with him dying.
Chapter Ten
Jada could tell by the look on Amelia’s face as she walked toward them that the news wasn’t good.
Amelia sat down and blinked a few times. “I was told there have been several rapes around here and in the towns around us.”
“God, it could be him,” Tara said.
“He … he raped a thirteen-year-old,” Amelia said and started crying.
Harley rubbed her back.
“Now, how do we find out if it’s the same guy?” Tara asked.
Amelia sniffed. “Bear is going to call the guy we know in the police office and get a drawing of the suspect. Every woman’s idea of the guy was the same.”
“How many women has he raped?” Zoe asked.
Amelia pressed her face into her hands and sobbed. It took her a minute to be able to talk.
“Eighteen,” Amelia said and then started crying again. “If it’s him, I want him dead.”
“We all do,” Lindsey said.
They all got quiet when Bear came out with a piece of paper. He looked at them suspiciously.
“Here’s what you wanted, Amelia. The guy faxed it over. Now, tell me what’s going on?”
“We’re not sure yet, but we will,” Tara said.
“The cop told me they think the guy moves around the country. He’ll stay until things get hot and move on. He’s raped a few hundred women, he said. You guys know you’re all going to get in trouble for not going to the men immediately, right?”
They all nodded.
Bear sighed and shook his head. “Just be ready to get punished.”
