She ate slowly, holding off the questions as long as possible. It was hard to hold back a smile when she noticed the other women doing the same thing.

“Enough,” Fury barked. “It does not take you women an hour to eat what little food you put on your plates.”

Titan held out his hand, and she reluctantly gave him the plate. He turned her so she was across his lap, and he had her rest her shoulder against his chest. She let her head fall and relaxed against him.

Fury got all their attention.

“Now, us guys have noticed you girls being off. You’re not laughing or smiling like you usually are. Would you like to tell us why that is?”

The girls looked around at each other.

“I’ll talk about why I’m not really with it today,” Lindsey said. “I can’t speak for the others, but I’d guess they feel the same way. When we entered your office yesterday, we thought you guys would punish us. When you gave in so easily, it made us wonder if your disappointment in us was deeper than we thought, or if you didn’t care.”

“Are we too much work?” Tara asked.

“We know we’re hard to deal with,” Amelia said. “But we thought we were doing fine.”

Every man looked shocked.

“Where the hell did you get this?” Fury asked.

“Just the way you acted,” Zoe said. “You agreed with us and then immediately sent us out of the room.”

“Yes, because we had a meeting,” Savage said. “It had nothing to do with you girls.”

“There’s no way in hell us guys are sick of you or disappointed. I, for one, think we’re pretty damn lucky to have you all,” Dre said.

The guys nodded.

Jada wanted to smile so badly because their plan worked so well. They’d have to remember what got to the guys the most.

Titan turned her head to look up at him. “We all feel that way, Babe. Don’t ever think you’re not special to me or that I’d ever want you gone.”

He pressed his lips against hers.

When he saw the tears in her eyes, he scowled. “I thought we talked about that shit.”

“You mean my tears?”

“Yeah. I don’t like them.”

“Titian, sometimes I’m so emotional I have to let it out somehow. You probably have to do that sometimes, too.”

“I certainly don’t cry,” he growled. “I usually go and beat some heads together.”

She almost laughed at the look of shock on his face.

“Can you see me doing that?” Jada asked.

“No. I wouldn’t want you anywhere near that type of violence,” he said. “But can’t you hold off on the tears until I’m gone?”

She smiled and cupped his cheek. “I’ll try my best.” She kissed him. “This is one of those times I want to say something, but I know you’d hate it.”

“If it has anything to do with sweet or shit, do it, and I’ll beat your ass.”

She bit her lip to keep from laughing. God, it was so much fun to tease him.
