“Or you’re pregnant.”

I figured it was better to just get it out there.

Arabella froze and looked up at me, her eyes filled with a cautious hope I knew she’d been trying to ignore. “You think so?”

“When did you have your period last?” Damian asked, helping her stand up and giving her the water. I went to get her toothbrush and put some paste on it before handing it to her, my love having chugged the entire glass of water.

I knew Arabella wasn’t feeling well because she didn’t think twice about answering Damian before going to brush her teeth. “It’s been…a while. Like six plus weeks.”

“Has that ever happened before?” I asked.

“No,” she whispered, her words muffled with the toothbrush in her mount. “I should take a test, I’m just nervous I’ll be disappointed or you guys will.”

“We’re in no rush,” I assured her. “As much as I love the idea of you being pregnant, I also know that it will happen when it’s meant to.”

“Okay,” Arabella said after she’d rinsed her mouth out, having taken a moment to consider my words. “I’ll take it. I may need to get one from the healer.”

Damian pulled open a drawer she never used and handed her one. “Figured we would keep some on hand. It was Cy and Zain’s idea, actually.”

“Of course it was.” She smiled, shaking her head and looking up at me. “Surprised it wasn’t yours.”

A low rumble left my throat, remembering just how many times I had wanted her to take it and held back for the exact reason of not wanting her to feel too much pressure.

“I’m eager for you to take it,” I admitted.

“Both of you out, then.” She shooed us, and I frowned in confusion. “Seriously—I am not peeing in front of you.”

“Cherry blossom.” Damian chuckled as she scowled, and he put up his hands in defeat. “Fine, I’ll go grab you some food.”

“I’m not leaving,” I said evenly. “I’ll turn though.”

“Fine,” she huffed as I did exactly that.

It took all of a minute, and Arabella was placing the test on the counter before turning on the shower. She seemed nervous, so I tried to distract her while she showered and we waited for the test to be done.

“We have a surprise for you today,” I said, trying to not stare at her perfect fucking body too much. I couldn’t help it, though. If Arabella was naked around me, I was not only staring but instantly hard. Almost painfully so.

Considering how much I took the woman, I would’ve thought that I would eventually get control over my obsessive need for her. I was almost positive it was just getting more intense, though, and she totally knew it, constantly teasing me. But right now, she wasn’t in that mindset. Even my mention of a surprise had her looking curious and intrigued, but the concern in her gaze over the result of the test was still there.

“Really?” she asked, tilting her head while scrubbing her hair. “Is it the house? Something to do with the house?”

“Yes.” My smile grew. “I think you are going to be very happy.”

“Is it done?” she asked, her eyes wide. “I know the furniture was supposed to come in soon—is it here?”

“You’ll see,” I hedged.

“Well, depending on the test, I may have a surprise for all of them as well.”

Yes, she probably would.

We had a few more minutes to wait, so I went into the other room to grab her clothes, choosing something warm since it was chilly out. As I was grabbing a pile of things, I heard the shower turn off as Damian walked in and set food down on her desk. I was distracted enough looking over what he’d gotten her as he told me about a guard he wanted to kill that I didn’t notice the silence coming from the bathroom at first.

Then I heard Arabella squeak.

My head snapped over to the bathroom as she appeared in the doorway, the glow of the lights behind her making her look like an angel. One hand held her towel, and the other held the test. Her face was flushed, and her eyes were filled with pure joy. I knew the answer before she even said it, and in that moment my chest felt like it was going to explode with happiness.

“I’m pregnant.”
