“You’ll live to regret it if you break that.” Vincent dropped his hand back to his lap.

Chad lowered his hand and looked at his palm.

It tingled.

The phrase deal with the devil came to mind.

“Where might Tate have taken Shawn?”

Vincent widened his eyes. “Shawn? His little brother. I didn’t realize the fourth victim was his flesh and blood.”

“He isn’t dead yet.”

“Do you know that for certain?” Vincent smirked. “See that would impress me. Killing his brother would be more of a climax.”

Chad took a deep breath. “Where would Tate take him?”

“Now I’m conflicted.”

“Conflicted?”

Vincent nodded. “On one hand, I want you to visit me, but on the other, Tate killing his own brother for me is somewhat of a triumph.”

“You won’t see me again if he does.”

Vincent tutted. “And that’s what’s clinched it for me. I know you’ll keep your promise to visit me.”

“Where?” Chad repeated.

“Tate told me before he started visiting, he used to park his car on Castle Hill. He had a good view of prison from there and hoped he might catch a glimpse of me in the yard, like an animal in a zoo.”

“Castle Hill?”

“Yes. That’s where I’d put my money.”

Chad jumped to his feet, and strode across the room, only to be stopped by Vincent’s voice. “Remember what you promised me, Chad. You deny my time, I’llpoisonyours.”

Chapter Nineteen

“Castle Hill.”

Chad shouted it through the phone before starting the engine.

“That’s what Vincent told you?” Ally said. “Castle Hill.”

He was caught short by the bite in her voice. “Yes, that’s what he told me.”

“You know he might be lying.”

“Yes, I know, but it’s at least worth a look.” Chad put the phone on loudspeaker and took off from the car park. “Have you told the DI—”

“Faye is calling him now. What did Vincent say?”

“Castle—”

“Other than that.”

“Tate’s doing this for him.”
