I blinked.
“No one, huh?” Summer said pointedly.
My lips pressed together.
She was right.
I really didn’t trust many people at all. And since Aev and Summer couldn’t fly, there was no one.
“I could fly you,” January offered. “I know we’re not super close, but I at least don’t have a dick.”
“Girl, you’re pregnant. We all know that’s not an option,” Summer tossed back.
January heaved a sigh.
I glanced at North, and frowned when I saw her focused on something beyond us. When I looked in that direction, I saw nothing but trees.
“She’s trying to see the fight,” January told me.
Oh.
“Has it worked?”
January shook her head. “Her magic should be getting easier to control, but it isn’t.”
That was a little concerning.
“Mare,” January called out, pulling our dragon chick from her conversation with Ervo. She looked over at us, giving us the tiniest smile. “Can you fly Dots up to meet the klynna?”
“No.” Ervo answered before Mare could, glowering at all of us. “There are plenty of unattached males who can do that.”
Mare gave him a look. “It’s my choice, Viervo.” She turned her gaze back to us. “But honestly, I’m not the best choice. There are a lot of fae who are faster and more skilled at flying than I am.”
Summer looked at me. “If Aev asked Oren, he’s probably a good pick, as shitty as he treated you. Aev probably has other friends who would be just as good, too.”
I shook my head. “I won’t fly with them.”
I didn’t even know if I was willing to fly with a man at all, but after our conversation, there wasn’t even a question about Oren. I wouldn’t fly with him, period.
“What about Lian?” Summer asked, looking at January.
“No. I’ll be protecting my female and the other life-bringers in the Stronghold,” he said, from a few feet away.
I tightened my arms around my abdomen. “I’ll ask Fovea.”
“The female fae are far less trustworthy than the males,” Remmo countered. “Devv would do it. Summer knows him well.”
“I do. I could ask Devv,” Summer offered, looking at me.
Waiting.
My throat tightened. “I’ll think about it.”
“You don’t have time to think about it,” Summer warned.
I jerked my head in a nod, turning and striding away from the group. My head was spinning, and I just needed to get away from them. From everyone.
I forced myself to walk at a normal pace as I slipped into the forest, between the trees, toward the Stronghold so no one would come after me right away.
