Her head is resting on my shoulder. She doesn’t stop her caressing hand movement. She’s asked the question like it’s an everyday run-of-the-mill thing to query. In her biker world maybe it is. I’m used to Jaine’s lack of airs and graces now.
“None.”
“Okay, let me rephrase that. How many women have you fucked?”
“Why would you want to know that?” I frown outwardly, even though she can’t see me.
She shrugs. “I’m just curious. I heard rumors that you O’Connell brothers had slept with most of the single women in Manhattan and quite a lot of the married ones too.”
I exhale. I’m not sure how to answer. Truthfully is probably best.
“Hundreds.”
“One hundred? Two?”
“Several.”
“So, three figures?”
“Perhaps.”
“Right.”
Her hand stops briefly. Does that number bother her? I’m not sure what she expected. I’m thirty-eight years old. I’ve sown my wild oats countless times over the years before finally becoming bored and reducing my harem down to a handful of pre-selected women, all of whom have signed watertight NDAs. Even Candice. Even Molly.
All of them apart from her.
“And what about you?”
“What about me?”
“Your number.”
She chuckles loudly. “Oh, it’s nothing impressive, Mr. O’Connell, I can assure you of that.”
“So, not hundreds.”
She chuckles again. I like the sound. It’s not forced or fake, but then that’s one thing Jaine could never be accused of being.
“I may be a biker, but I’m not a cum slut.”
“Sorry. I wasn’t insinuating that you…”
“Four.”
I frown again. Is she saying what I think she is?
“So Ace, Razr, Padraig, and me.”
“You sound disappointed that it’s not some big fancy number.”
“Not at all. I’m just surprised.”
“That I don’t have a professional mattress attached to my back after all?”
It’s my turn to chuckle. I can’t help it. “I’m sorry about that, Jaine. It was wrong that we allowed Molly to insinuate such things.”
She shrugs. “I’m a big girl. I’m also thick-skinned. I was more concerned that she might spread malicious rumors and my clients might start approaching me over these other professional services I’d been holding out on.”
