Fuck.
The image he planted in my mind had me writhing and on the edge again.
He undid the ropes on one wrist, and then the other, lifting me up so my legs were spread in the split while he bound my hands behind my back again. “Have to get out of here before someone finds us,” he said. “Wouldn’t want someone to think you don’t want to be here.”
My head lolled when he freed my legs and tossed me over his shoulder once more, still naked. I couldn’t see anything, bouncing, hair swirling around my head. We were in the elevator, but I didn’t know what floor, and I didn’t know where Delta was.
Comet lifted me and tossed me face down onto a mattress. “You’ll stay here until I decide to use you again.”
The apartment door slammed shut and left me in complete silence. Hands bound, mouth gagged, shoulders straining.
I didn’t know how long it was before the door opened again. It didn’t feel like long. Softer footsteps this time, and the mattress beneath me dipped. Strong hands untied mine, rubbing my wrists and setting them aside before unbuckling the gag from behind my head.
Arms lifted me and turned me over, revealing Comet without the mask, and without the rest of his clothes. As far from the character he’d created as he could get.
“Hey, beautiful.”
“Hey.”
His eyes roved over me, checking me like it wasn’t him that just did all of that to me. “I need to clean you up. Bath or shower?”
I didn’t think I could stand right now. The idea of him holding me up was appealing, but so was lying in a tub with him. “Bath.”
“Okay.” He lowered himself to me and kissed my forehead. “I’ll be right back.”
Looking around, I realized we were in the group apartment. I hadn’t been to the bathroom in here, but if it were as big as the bed, we wouldn’t have a problem.
I needed to use the restroom before getting in the tub. My legs were shaky as hell, but I pushed to my feet and followed the warm glow of light and the sound of water.
“I was going to bring you in.”
“Bathroom,” I said.
“Ah.” He stepped out while I used it before helping me into the steaming water and getting in behind me.
It was so warm, I never wanted to leave. Comet washed my face and ran water over my hair before I turned and sprawled over his chest.
“You okay, beautiful?”
“I’m good,” I sighed.
His hands moved up and down my back. “That went darker than I anticipated,” he said with a chuckle.
I still felt whole, even if the fae in me had receded a bit. “Yeah, but I didn’t mind. It… made sense, as weird as that sounds.”
“No, I get it. It’s not something that can be explained.” Comet lifted some water and let it fall over my hair. “I wanted to go further, but since we’d never done it before, and you’re still human…” he trailed off.
Now that the adrenaline and pleasure were wearing off, I was sleepy, and the warmth of both the bath and his body wasn’t helping. “I wanted more too. But that was a good call. We’ll do it again.”
Lifting me up his body, Comet found my lips. “I love you,” he told me. “I’ve loved you for a long time. Even when I thought you were only human and I might never be with you, I loved you.”
My breath caught in my chest. Earlier, when Delta told me he loved me, I hadn’t had a chance to process it, much less say it back. Now, I wanted to say it, but it was terrifying. Not because I didn’t, but because I’d never actually said it to anyone before. In a romantic sense, at least.
“I love you,” I whispered. “Even if I’m scared.”
“What are you scared of?”
The space between us felt too raw for me to be anything but honest. “Everything. I’m scared of being with all of you. Notofyou, but it’s… intense with five mates. I’m scared the Legion are going to kill people I love. I’m scared they’re going to kill one ofyou. I’m scared ofathanasíaand what happens if I can’t reach it. But also scared of what it will feel like. Will I be different?”
