Prologue

I can still rememberthe first time I laid eyes on her.

She was walking past the slot machines like she was looking for something or someone, her head turning left and right. She was the most beautiful thing that I had ever seen. Long brown hair pulled back in a low ponytail with bright blue eyes that reminded me of cloudless sunny days. I let my eyes run over her body taking in the rest of her. She looks thin, like she had missed a few too many meals but I can easily fix that, I think.

That thought takes me by surprise. I’ve never been the type to date or even think about settling down, always more focused on learning everything I could about the casino business so that I would be ready to take over from my father when it was time. I’ve put all of my energy into graduating at the top of my class in business school and then learning how each department in my family’s casino runs.

My father finally agreed to let me have some more control in the business. I think he’s finally ready to slow down and spend his days with my mom. They’ve been married for thirty years this August and are still just in love as the day they met. My dad loves to tell the story of how he saw my mom one day in high school and just knew that she was it for him. They got married as soon as they graduated and have always been a perfect example of exactly what I wanted in a relationship.

Since my dad was starting to slow down, he agreed to let me create and design my very first casino which opened just a few months ago. I’ve been so busy with it’s opening that I haven’t even looked at a woman unless she works for me in more than a year. I can’t even remember the last time that I had sex. Sometime back in college, I guess.

This girl though. There was just something about her that called to me. One look and I just knew in my bones that she was it. She was my one and I would stop at nothing to make her mine.
