"When I found out I was pregnant with you I wasn't ready to be a mother. Anita was more than happy to take you. She could give you what I couldn't."

"Then why return now? I don't need you in my life." I stop and look at her.

"Because your sister needs you."

"You can't be serious. After twenty-eight years you come back in my life because you want me to help you. You have to be joking. I don't have a sister. You aren't my family and neither is she." I walk to the door not wanting to hear one more word out of her mouth. Then she speaks.

"Olly," she starts.

"My name is Oliver. I have to go." I am the door when she tries again.

"Oliver, your sister is Ava." I turn and look at her. It has to be a lie.

"You are lying." She takes something out of her bag and walks toward me.

"Here." She hands me two photos. "I'm sure you recognize all the people in the photos." I'm looking at a picture of Ava and her father. The other is her, my father and mom. "I had an affair with Dougal for years. You can say I was his long term mistress. I disappeared shortly after giving birth to you. Ask Anita. She will tell you I am your mother."

"Why am I supposed to believe you are Ava's mother?"

"Why would I lie? I gain nothing by claiming her as my daughter."

"I don't know and that is the problem." I look at her one last time before I leave.

I walk downstairs and get in my car. This isn't true. She has to be lying. But somehow I have the feeling she isn't lying. I take out my phone and dial my mom. It takes a few rings before she answers.

"Hi, Sweetheart. How are you?"

"Where are you, mom?"

"At the house. Is everything ok?"

"I need to speak with you. I should be there in twenty minutes."

I turn on the ignition and start driving. I look at the picture again. My father is smiling standing between both women. The picture is old. They are at some kind of party. In the picture with Ava and her father, she looks like a teenager. Anyone could find a picture on the internet. I want to call Viktor and tell him, but this might be nothing. It probably is nothing. This woman is lying. Thinking for a moment Ava does look like her. Shit, I shouldn't jump to conclusions. I need answers. My phone rings and it's Viktor. I don't answer. I have only one objective, I need to know if that woman is telling the truth.

Before I know it I am pulling up to the gates to my parents house. The gates are opened and I drive in. Hopefully, dad isn't home. I need the truth and not the lies he might give me. I park and walk to the door. Right before I turn the knob to enter mom opens the door. She scans me up and down.

"What is wrong?" She asks in a panic.

"Let's go inside." She moves to the side and lets me in. "Where is dad?"

"He isn't here. You are worrying me, Oliver. Talk to me."

"Who is my biological mother?" I've never asked her since it didn't matter to me. But now I need to know. I have to know.

"Someone your father slept with once." She is lying and I can tell. A first for her since she has never lied to me, not about something like this.

"You are lying to me." I hand her the picture.

"Where did you get this?" She looks between the picture and me.

"She was kind enough to give it to me." She looks at the picture again. Before she says it I know Diana was telling the truth.

"Let's take a seat."

"I don't want to sit mom. I want the truth."

"Please."
