“Yeah, exactly,” Collin laughs. “Okay, I’ll be here with our beautiful daughter. I’ll order from that Thai place you like and we’ll have a cozy night in. Deal?”

“I’ll do anything with you, Daddy.” I walk over and he kisses me so tenderly I feel like I’m floating, only to have Cailynne stir, whine, and cry. Collin pulls away from me with an apologetic smile.

“I’ll be your Daddy later,” he promises with another quick kiss and a wink.

I finish getting ready and drive down to a downtown West Cucina hotel where a campaign event is being hosted for someone I never thought I’d see again, let alone speak on behalf of.

“Oh my darling, Corgi,” Lilibet embraces me with a solemn tone and a hug so warm and friendly, it barely feels like her. I take a step back to look her up and down. No longer the politician’s socialite daughter, she’s ready to take her own turn at the polls.

“You look phenomenal. I never thought I’d see you in blue, but you’ve got my vote.”

She smiles and the year gone by shows in her eyes. “I don’t want to talk about this stuff. I want to hear about you and that adorable Cailynne Conyers. Fill me in on that hunk of a husband too. Does he still do security?”

I shove her shoulder playfully, “Cut it out. Dick would hate to hear you talk like that about another man. I still can’t believe you’re married to Chad’s dad.”

She shrugs, “You know, after Chad’s situation exploded on social media, we grew closer and after that ugliness you told me about Bjorn, I warned Dick. He invested in me instead. He said now’s the perfect time for a young woman to run and here we are. In love and campaigning together. But let’s go up to my suite. We can relax and get ready. I’ll have my assistant run out and get you whatever you need.”

“If they can bring my husband here, that would be great,” I tell her. I know telling Collin to stay home was the right choice because I don’t want the baby with just anyone.

“I can send my driver,” she says as we move through a rear entrance of the hotel to avoid the masses out front.

“No, don’t worry about it. I told him to stay because he’s with the baby and our usual babysitter went out of town.”

“If you insist,” she shrugs and takes me up to a penthouse suite. Opening the doors, it looks like heaven, with a huge bed and vanity, the view of Downtown Cucina. It’s overwhelming how luxurious it feels.

“This doesn’t even look like you’re staying here,” I tell her.

“I’m not,” Lilibet starts to let her well-put-together facade drop. The giddy girl who used to screech my name in the highest octaves is ready to jump up and down with excitement. “You’re staying here!”

“What are you talking about?” I ask her.

Lilibet begins explaining, “Don’t be mad, but the women’s event is tomorrow night. Your babysitter is down the hall-”

“And your husband is standing in the hallway,” Collin pokes his head in, and Lilibet squeals. He looks at her and tips his head in gratitude, “Thank you for helping me with this, Mrs. Abrams.”

“You two lovebirds, enjoy,” Lilibet says as she leaves.

Collin closes and locks the door behind him. His once dark brown stubble is a low-cut beard. Dark brown eyes narrow at me, walking me back toward the plush bed until I’m forced to sit down.

“What is this? What’s happening?” The questions come out just as more fly into my head.

“You have been so good to me, Cory. The glue of our little family. You have no idea how much I admire the work you do.”

“Daddy, I just keep our house in order.”

“With a newborn,” he adds. “You’re taking on campaigning again, even after all that stuff with Bjorn. The work you do in the neighborhood. And just so you know, you’re my peace of mind, little girl. Without you, I’d still be a raving tyrant in the office. You are the calm I never knew I needed. So, here are your options for today. You ready?”

“I’m so overwhelmed by how much I love you.”

He chuckles, stroking the side of my face before dropping to his knees. His hands dive under my skirt and my pulse quickens as he grazes the bare flesh between my thighs. His finger stops before sliding between my lips and around my entrance.

Shaking his head from side to side, “You’re being a bad little girl. You must be punished for coming out of the house without panties and keeping that all to yourself. Stand up and take this off.”

I do as he tells me, rising to my feet in a desperate attempt to keep my smile at bay. I enjoy these moments too much.

Collin lays me on my belly across the bed. The swiftness of his hand across my bare bottom is startling but dissolves quickly into seductive euphoria.

He starts to count, “One. For wearing absolutely nothing over that bare pussy and not telling me.”
