“Anything you say, Mr. Conyers, Sir.” The security guard tips his hat before turning to address me, “Night, Miss Girard.”
I can feel the frailty of my smile as I mutter, “Good night, Tom.”
Collin places his hand on the small of my back. The gesture to nudge me forward without actually pushing me. He moves to unlock the door, but it’s not to my apartment. The identical set of keys opens the door that no one’s come in or out of for weeks.
“How long?” I ask him as he opens the door to let me inside the place he’s been laying his head down at night.
“Don’t worry, little girl. It’s long enough.”

COLLIN
It’s absolute torture teasing and flirting with Cory like this, but she’s so damn irresistible. The heat of her anger radiates from her curvaceous body, and I want to feel just how warm she is to the touch.
Cory storms past me into the apartment I’m staying in while she’s under my guard. There’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that I’m going to have to be honest with her. It’s clear her father doesn’t deem it necessary. While I’m going to do my job no matter what, having Cory in the loop works better for all of us.
“I don’t even need a bodyguard,” she huffs to herself, pacing in circles. When she stops to look at me, her eyes pleading for answers as she asks me again, “How long have you been stalking me?”
“It’s not stalking. I’m here for your protection, and from the looks of the kind of people you surround yourself with, you need me.”
I’m not going to sugarcoat anything from her. She’s mine to protect, even after the job is complete.
“What do you mean by thekindof people I surround myself with? Myfriendsare just fine as they are. I’m perfectly okay with them and I - Don’t - Need - You.”
The uncertainty she’s masking with her conviction is all it takes for me to tell her, “Thosefriendsof yours haven’t called, texted, or even sent up a smoke signal to see if you’re okay. Those aren’t friends, and the sooner you realize that, the safer you’ll be.”
“Ha,” she scoffs. “You just want me to make your job easier.”
“That would be wonderful, especially since you actually need a bodyguard. The threats coming to your father’s office are growing increasingly hostile as the election draws close. I’m here to keep you safe. I’ve never let anyone get hurt while I was on the job and I’m not about to start now. Oh, and FYI, that party is a no-go.”
Cory’s eyes widen with indignation as she stomps her foot. “It’s campaign season. We are going because I told Lilibet we would. You don’t cancel on Lilibet Samuels.”
“Well, I do, and if you’re going to behave like a toddler, I’ll put you over my knee and spank you like one for being so disobedient.”
“You wouldn’t dare.” The challenge in her voice is enthralling as she storms toward me.
Cory points her finger in my face, making me want to wrap my mouth around it and suck until she whimpers for me to bring her to heights of erotic bliss only I can deliver. I want to suck every inch of her body to leave the taste of her all over my tongue.
“For one,” she snarls, “stop smiling at me like that.”
“Like what?” I ask, letting the corner of my mouth curl up.
“I don’t know, like I’m a slice of pizza or something.”
“There’s no way in hell that I’d do the things I want to do to you to a slice of pizza.” The words flow out of me like a running faucet. Having Cory alone in this space makes me throw every rule out the window.
I want her.
I love her. Soon, she’s going to know just how much. Cory belongs to me, and I don’t care how crazy it sounds. Even as she takes a step away from me, putting her finger down before shaking her head as if to reignite her anger.
“Don’t distract me! I don’t need a bodyguard. I don’t want a bodyguard. I can take care of myself and have been for at least the last decade. Don’t smile at me like you want to eat me and don’t even think about laying a swatting hand on my bottom.”
The smirk I feel spreading across my face can’t stop me from tilting my head, dragging my gaze slowly up her hourglass frame. The fishnets are more alluring than ever as I lick my lips and feel every ounce of blood in my body flooding toward my crotch.
“You’ve been warned, little girl. Behave and you’ll get what you’re demanding.”
She stands there silently. I can feel the rebellious spirit rising through her. Cory shakes her head and says, “No. This is not how bodyguards are supposed to act. You can’t threaten me while saying you’re here to protect me.”
