I try not to think about what that means about me and my feelings toward Boss Man.
I stop, standing on that rug as I face him.
“Can I get anything for the meeting?” I ask.
“No, it shouldn’t take that long, and then we’ll be breaking for lunch.”
I nod, and he reaches out, squeezing my elbow.
“If you need to leave to check on Lottie or anything,” he starts, and I shake my head.
“Anson took today off. He’s watching Honor and taking care of Lottie.”
“Okay, let me know if you need anything. I’ll be back after the meeting.”
“You have a conference call with the New York team at eleven,” I remind him, and he nods.
He smiles at me one last time before he heads into the conference room. The door closes after him, and I collapse into my seat.
At least today is Thursday. I only have to see him one more day, and then I’ll get a two-day break to build my walls back up.
I just hope that it’s enough.

She’s doing exactlywhat I thought she would do, so I’m not surprised or caught off guard, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed though.
I’ve wanted Goldie for so long, and my patience is starting to wear thin. I finally have an opening with her since she made the first move, and I’m not letting it pass me by.
The meeting seemed to drag on, and then the conference call ran late. My stomach growls, and I glance through the glass windows at Goldie. She’s typing away at her desk. I gave her time to settle in, but now it’s almost lunchtime, and I don’t want to wait any longer to get our plans in place.
I head out to her space, and she glances at me, those bright blue eyes drawing me in for a second. Then she looks back to her computer screen and the spell is broken.
“Where are we going for lunch?” I ask her as I lean against her desk.
“I can make you reservations wherever you want,” she says, typing up the last of her email and hitting send. “Is it for you, Theo, and Levi?”
“No, for you and me.”
Her fingers stop flying over the keyboard, and she shakes her head.
“I’m not going with you.”
“Sure. Where do you want to go? You can pick wherever.”
She shakes her head again, looking a little exasperated.
“Boss Man,” she starts, and I interrupt her.
“You know what? You’re right.”
“I am?” She asks, and I can’t help but notice that she seems a little disappointed that I gave up so easily.
“Yeah. Our first date should be more romantic than lunch, and I should be the one organizing it.”
“Date?!” She shrieks as I head back into my office.
