She rocks back on her heels, and I take a step toward her.
“I thought that you knew. I thought that it was obvious, but I should have told you before. I love you, baby. I have since the moment that I laid eyes on you. I’ve wanted this for years. I’ve wantedyoufor years.”
She gulps, her fingers stretching and then closing in a nervous gesture.
“You’re not your mom, baby. You’re amazing. It would be impossible not to fall in love with you and only a fool would let you go. I know that it might take longer for you to let me in, but I’ll wait. I’m not going anywhere,” I swear to her.
Tears shimmer in her eyes, and I can’t hold back any longer. I close the distance between us and pull her into my arms.
“I love you. So much,” I whisper in her ear, and she wraps her arms around me.
“I wuff yo,” she says, but it’s all mumbled against my shoulder.
I smile, pulling back and brushing her hair away from her face.
“Say it again.”
I need to hear it. Need to. I’ve waited too long for this moment.
“I love you too, Boss Man.”
I smile, my hands burrowing into her hair as I tilt her head back and claim her lips with mine. Her mouth opens underneath mine almost instantly, and she moans as my tongue teases hers.
“Adrien,” she whimpers against my lips, and I kiss her harder.
Her body is pressed up against mine, every curve molded to the hard lines of my body, and I love the feeling, but I need us to be skin-on-skin right now.
“I need you,” I tell her, and she nods.
I lift her up into my arms, and she points me toward her bedroom. There are only two doors so I would have figured it out quickly, but I still appreciate the help.
We tumble onto her mattress, and I pull her tight against me.
“I love you, Goldie,” I whisper, and she grins.
“Prove it,” she says, her eyes sparkling up at me.
I laugh as I roll her under me and do just that.
NINETEEN
Goldie
I’m alonewhen I wake up the next morning, and wonder where Adrien could have gone to.
I crack one eye open and frown when I see him kneeling next to my closet.
“What are you doing?” I mumble, still half asleep.
“Go back to bed, baby,” he whispers, and I roll over, stretching before I sit up in bed.
“What are you looking for?” I ask him.
“Nothing.”
“Then what are you doing?” I ask.
I’m starting to get exasperated so I stand and head over to see what he’s up to.
