“It can’t stay. Tell them to take it back,” Theo demands, but she just shakes her head.
“The bet was that I could get a chair for in here, a comfortable chair,” she stresses, “if I finished the paperwork for the McClinton account by last Friday. Which I did because…” she says, pointing a finger at him.
“You’re awesome,” he deadpans, and she grins.
“Exactly. And this is the chair that I picked. I only got the footstool because it was cute.”
“Footstool!?” Theo yells as she turns and heads back to her desk.
The movers come back in, carrying a fuzzy pink stool, and I swear Theo’s eye starts to twitch.
“I’m going to kill my assistant,” he growls.
“Dude! Now you have witnesses,” I say out of the corner of my mouth, nodding to the movers, and now I’m sure that Theo’s eye is twitching.
“Well, I’ll let you get this figured out. Dinner tomorrow night?”Levi asks us as he stands to head back to work.
Theo nods distractedly, already glaring at Clara as we get ready to leave.
“See you later, Clara. Love the new chair. I think that you should order two more so that Levi and I have somewhere comfortable to sit when we have lunch,” I suggest.
“Absolutely not!” Theo yells, and I grin.
“Bye guys,” Clara says as we head out.
I ride down in the elevator with Levi, and he waves goodbye as he gets off on his floor. I step off my office floor, and my eyes lock with Goldie’s.
“How was lunch?” She asks, her bright blue eyes twinkling at me.
It would have been better with you.
“Good,” I tell her instead as I head into my office.
Man, I really need to figure out a new way to win her over.
And fast.

I frown as moreclouds push in front of the sun, turning the sky dark and gloomy. The good weather that we’ve had the last few weeks seems to be changing this morning. I only hope that the rain holds off until I’m home tonight.
It’s almost lunchtime, so I finish up the last email and then log out of my computer. I peek behind me, but Adrien is busy on a call still so I dig my journal out of my bag.
I started keeping a diary when I was twelve. This is probably the twentieth one that I’ve had. This one has hamsters in crowns all over it. I always try to pick a bright, fun notebook to write in. They make me happy. The rest of my diaries are at home in my closet, tucked away, for I don’t even know what.
Keeping diaries helped to get out some of the things that I never dared say out loud. A school counselor had first recommended it, and I fell in love with doing it.
I open the diary and grab a bright pink pen off my desk before I start to write.
Dear Diary,
I’m havinglunch with Lottie today. It’s been too long since we’ve been together one on one. Don’t get me wrong, I love Honor, but when it’s just the two of us, it reminds me of when we were kids.
So much has changed in the last year. It’s not the two of us against the world anymore. I’m so glad that she’s with Anson now. She’s been in love with him for so long, and she deserves to be happy and with someone who loves her more than anyone.
I wish that I had that.
