It’s amusing seeing Oak’s possessive side, as it’s something I’ve never witnessed before from him. “How about a girls and guys weekend?”
Adrianna’s brow furrows. “There’s no way in hell you are coming to Mexico. Oak, fine. You, no.”
I tighten my grasp on her leg. “That’s rather rude.”
Adrianna takes a long swig of her drink and glances across the table at the two empty chairs where Camilla and Gavril had been sitting. “Where did Camilla go? She’s been gone quite a while.”
Eva’s brow furrows. “Not sure. When did Gavril leave?”
The guy is like a fucking ghost. As I must admit, I didn’t see him leave the table. “Probably to get more alcohol knowing him.”
Adrianna stands suddenly. “I’ll go and find Camilla.” She marches away before I can tell her to sit back down.
“And then there were three.” I sip my whiskey. “Not going to lie. I feel like a third wheel right now.”
Eva leans forward. “Please, can you stop tormenting Adrianna? All you’re doing is making her cranky.”
I meet Eva’s gaze, knowing I have to be diplomatic in my response, considering Oak is sitting next to her and married her. Otherwise I’d tell her to keep her nose out of my business, but I can’t deny that after killing her mother, whenever I see her, I’m wracked with guilt too.
“I’m sorry, Eva, but I can’t do that.”
She shakes her head. “Why not? You have a student or multiple every year. Why not move onto the next one and be done with it?”
My throat constricts a little at being asked and I take a long drink before answering. “Because I like a challenge,” I say simply, even though it’s a lie.
Adrianna Vasquez is nothing like the girls I’ve fucked before. There isn’t going to be a next one after her. She’s it for me, at least. That’s how I feel at the moment, even if she won’t put out.
I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. Never wanted anyone on such a visceral level that it almost feels like she’s a part of me.
I wait impatiently for her return, and when she does return, she’s empty handed. “No luck?” I ask.
“She not in the bathroom or out front.” Her brow furrows. “I don’t get it.”
Less than a minute later, Camilla appears looking flushed pink and sits down on the other side of Adrianna. “Where were you?”
Camilla turns even redder. “I went to the bathroom and then went to the bar, but the queue was so big I gave up.”
Oak has disappeared now, so it seems like there’s never all of us there at the table. I notice he’s standing at the bar with Gav having what looks like a stern conversation.
“So, how are you girls enjoying your night out on the town?”
Adrianna replies, “I’d be enjoying it much more if we weren’t out with our professors.”
Oak and Gav return with their drinks, and Gav sits down next to Camilla, giving her an odd look.
“We need to liven up this party right away. How about a beer drinking contest?” I suggest.
Adrianna straightens. “If you want to lose, sure.”
“I’ve never met someone as competitive as me before I met you, Miss Vasquez.”
Adrianna grabs my beer and chugs it in two in front of my eyes, which I must admit is fast.
I clench my jaw. “You owe me a beer now.”
She smirks. “First to finish doesn’t pay.”
I nod. “Okay, but I’ll wipe the floor with you.”
