Page 76 of Playing Dirty

Gav squisheshis hot dog between his meaty bear paws and his cup of beer, spilling it everywhere.

“Gav, what the fuck?”

His jaw is clenched tightly, and he looks about ready to murder someone. “It looks like your hooks aren’t as deep as you thought.” Gav nods in front of us.

Adrianna is sitting with Nikolai Kushev’s arm around her shoulders, her head rested in the crook of his neck. “Motherfucker.”

A rage unlike any I’ve ever felt overwhelms me. Adrianna may think she’s untouchable emotionally, but she will not treat me like shit, not if she wants me to bury the truth about her.

Gav taps Camilla on the shoulder. “May I ask what you are doing here, Miss Morrone?”

Camilla’s eyes go wide as Rizzo turns to face us. “Hey professor, we’re just enjoying the game. That’s not against school rules, is it?”

“Yes, just enjoying the game,” Camilla adds.

“And who cleared you to leave school grounds?” Gav questions her.

Adrianna has the gall to turn to face me, meeting my gaze with a cocky little smirk on those damned beautiful lips. “Principal Byrne gave us permission.” She slides her hand into her pocket and pulls out the slip.

Oak knows I’m after Adrianna and yet he still gave her permission to leave the grounds with a bunch of boys. It’s clear she’s trying to piss me off as she leans closer to Nik, who hasn’t even bothered to join in the conversation.

Gav clears his throat. “I find that hard to believe that he’d approve an outing for a student who has been constantly in detention lately.”

He’s talking about Camilla as she’s been a real loose cannon this year, which isn’t like her at all. The remark she made about me wanting Adrianna to suck my cock may not have been untrue, but she spoke out of turn. “My name is on the slip, just like everyone else’s.”

Gav’s voice sounds deadly as he says, “Well then, enjoy the game.”

Camilla nods. “Thanks, you too.” And then the conversation is over. But Adrianna lets her gaze linger on me for a few beats more, taunting me with those beautiful chestnut brown eyes.

Nik is barely paying her any attention as he focuses on the game, but she is trying to get under my skin and make me jealous. I can’t deny that it’s working.

A dark part of me wants to murder Nik for even being within a foot of what is mine. Gav suddenly gets up. “I’ll be back shortly, just going to grab a drink.”

My brow furrows. “The game is only just starting.”

“If you hadn’t noticed, I spilled my drink on the way in here.”

I sigh, irritated by Gav leaving me so soon, sitting like a pathetic loser behind a woman who is trying to make a fool out of me.

I dig my cell phone out of my pocket and type a text to her.

Archer: Are you trying to make sure I expose you as a traitor?

Adrianna’s cell phone dings, but she ignores it. No doubt fully aware that it’s me texting her. Rage slams into me as I type another text, barely containing the desire to stand up and grab her by the hair, dragging her out of here for everyone to see.

Archer: If you don’t answer me, you’ll wish I’d told your father the truth months ago.

On the second chime, she sighs and pulls out her cell phone, glancing over her shoulder at me briefly.

Adrianna: We had a deal that I give you my virginity. That’s all. What’s your problem?

My hands are shakingfrom rageas I type the next message to her.

Archer: You belong to me until I say so. No dates with other men. Now stand up and come back here before I drag you over the chair myself.

Adrianna glances over her shoulder, glaring at me as if trying to ascertain how serious I am.

“Now,” I mouth.
