Finally: I have even better news. The hunt is over. One very swoon-worthy heroine has claimed our handsome devil.

Luna Deokhye, congratulations on seducing the Reaper!

I wokeup with 125 calls and 50 messages. Gaksi laughed so hard the room shook with his glee.

“You missed everything,” I accused.

The demonic mocking continued.

“You didn’t even answer my messages while I was gone!” I usually made him do that while I was out. But where did he go? To do nothing! While my phone was blowing up! After a whole night of suffering!

He tossed the oracle’s gossip column onto my bed.

I froze.

Reread.

Sank back into bed.

“We need to hunt down and kill this woman.”

Stars and heavens. Heavens and stars. The whole campus would have seen this. How did the oracle know I saw him last night? And we weren’t even dating? He tried to kill me last night! Again!

“I go through one day of hell from Reaper, and the next, the oracle decides it’s her turn. She’s going to ruin my life. Why didn’t you do anything?” I accused. “Why didn’t you wake me sooner?”

“Neither of us can control the whims of the oracle,” Gaksi huffed, amused.

When I finished off Reaper, Gaksi was next.

I braced myself to sift through the onslaught of messages.

Flora:You’re sleeping with this man yet have so little information to deliver to me? Pathetic.

Luna:I’m doing my best! And we aren’t sleeping together.

Flora:You make more work for me. I already had to pull strings to get you back to every House this round. It’ll take a miracle to make you seem appealing after this.

Luna:Good thing we have a bargain!

Flora:Good thing I am a god.

My mom didn’t even text. She was the source of 50 of the calls. Starting at midnight, when the oracle released her latest column. Mother went to bed at 9 P.M.

The calls resumed at exactly 6 A.M. when she usually woke up. So not only did mother know that everyone knew, but she was also sleep deprived. I wassonot poking that beast right now.

Cordelia sent me all of one text.

Cordelia:Finally!

Luna:Unhelpful!

Aubrey called several times but limited her texts to a couple of words.

Aubrey:We need to take this girl down. This is a serious hit to your reputation. No House wants a “problem” recruit.

She was quick. Her text arrived nearly 30 seconds after midnight. She must have been up and ready to go.

Luna:You read my mind.
