My lips curl, ready to snarl at him. I know what he's suggesting--and it makes me want to punch him in the gut for thinking I need tomake herwant me. "We don't do things that way."
"Fuck," Fallon sneers. "You're sweet on her, aren't you?"
I take a heavy seat in the chair behind my desk, propping my feet up on it. I grab a pack of cigarettes and stick one in my mouth, lighting it up and taking a drag. Fallon just laughs while Hawk clears his throat.
"You should quit smoking," Hawk says.
I scowl. "Seriously?"
"Nasty habit," Hawk shrugs. "Classy girls like Jade Winslow don't like it."
"Yeah, and I'm not gonna stop and clean up just because of her," I tell them. "We can do it without her...or we can still convince her. When does this need to go down?"
"Five weeks," Fallon says. "Winslow is scheduled to go to the ACB summit up north, and the whole operation will be out of town. If we want to do anything, we'll have to strike then."
"Fuck me," I mutter.
I don't want to do what Fallon is suggesting. It goes against everything I believe in, everything I've fought for...and even though I want Jade, I won't take her suppressants away. Heat sex ain't real.
Not the way I want it with Jade.
When I convince her I'm on her side--that I would never do anything to hurt her, thatshe wants me--she's going to come to me without needing to be in heat. She's going to beg for my cock, she's going to love every second of it, and she's gonna come for me over and over without her heat having anything to do with it.
But I'm going to have to keep talking to her to make that happen...and Jade is slow to trust.
"You could let one of us give it a try," Fallon says, cocking his head. "Maybe you aren't her type."
"Or maybe we could convince her it's the right thing to do," Hawk says, more words than he normally uses--and still quiet.
She's too sharp to be fooled by tricks.
I don't want to take away her suppressants.
I'll just have to convince her that I'm on her side.

Iknowmyfriendis in deep with this omega, even if he doesn't want to admit it.
I've known Rafe for years, since before he picked up his reputation as an unhinged alpha, and he's not nearly as cold-hearted as he seems. He wants affection just as much as anyone else does, and Jade Winslow is just his type.
Pretty, young, proper. I can tell he wants to break her down and make her dirty. I can't deny that the idea is appealing.
But it's getting in our way.
We need to hurry up and get her in our pocket, on our side, before we go to Solstice Bay. If she betrays us, she could get us all killed--but her specific DNA is the only thing that can get us into her dad's personal server room.
We can't do it Rafe's way.
No brute force.
Just intrigue.
And as an intelligence operative, I'm not unused to the idea of doing the wrong thing to get the right outcome.
I meander down to the med bay, a bottle of sugar pills in my pocket as I prepare to swap out Jade's usual allotment of suppressants for placebos. Sure, it's skeezy--but that's my job in our little trio. Rafe's the leader and the wild card, Hawk's the bruiser and our moral compass...
