Rafe turns to me, brows raised. "Kendra? The third ACB heiress we tried to rescue?"

Jade nods, her voice shaking with emotion. "Yes, we've been searching for her for so long. With this data, we can finally track her down."

Carson steps closer to the screen, his eyes scanning the information. "This is incredible," he says, his voice low. "We need to start planning our next move."

"I agree," Rafe says, reaching for his phone. "I'll call everyone together for a meeting. We can't waste any time on this."

Jade turns to me, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "We're going to find her, Fallon. I can feel it."

I wrap my arms around her, feeling the warmth of her body against mine. "We will," I say, my voice firm. "I promise."

Somethinghappenedbetweenmeand Jade on our mission, and I still haven't gotten a chance to bring it up with her. Ever since she recovered and got out of the med bay a few days ago, she's been so wrapped up in Rafe and Fallon that I feel like she's barely had time to come up for air.

But today, they're busy making plans with Carson, and I'm going to talk to her.

I'm weirdly nervous as I make my way down to Rafe's office, where Jade has moved all her stuff. It feels like I'm intruding on his space, even though she invited me down here. I stand at the door, shuffling my feet, feeling like a kid about to pick my date up for prom.

God, I'm such an idiot. Fallon and Rafe have basically thrown me at their mate, trying to get us all to pack up...so why the hell am I still nervous?

After a few moments of silence, I hear the sound of footsteps approaching the door. When Jade opens it, I find her dressed in a t-shirt and short shorts, her smooth thighs enticing me inside.

I went from doubting if we could trust her, to being so horny I could barely stand it. Her scent is intoxicating.

"Hey," she says, her voice quiet as she smiles.

"Hey," I reply, feeling strangely awkward. I shove my hands in my pockets, not sure what else to do with them. "Can I come in?"

Jade nods, stepping aside to let me pass. As I enter the room, I notice that Rafe and Fallon are nowhere in sight. It's just the two of us.

Good...I don't think I could stand them judging me while I'm doing this.

"I was just cleaning up the living space back here," she says, leading me deeper into the room. This office used to be a storage room, and it's still packed with shipping containers. Rafe uses one of these for a sleeping space, but I can see that Jade has been hard at work making it more livable, adding twinkle lights and tapestries.

It's really adorable...just like her.

"I wanted to talk to you," I say, feeling a knot form in my stomach.

Jade raises an eyebrow over her shoulder. "About what?"

"About what happened on the mission," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper.

Jade's expression softens as she turns around, crossing her arms. Her cheeks are flushed in a blush, her lip between her teeth. I want to alpha out and capture those lips in mine, make her scream...

...but that's not me.

I'm not like my friends. I'm...

"Oh," she murmurs. "Yeah, I've been meaning to talk to you about that too."

I feel a mixture of relief and anxiety wash over me. "Really?"

Jade nods. "We kissed, Hawk," she says. "And before that, I...well, I kind of thought you hated me."

My face falls, and I take a step closer to her to hold her hands. Jade lets me, gazing up at me. She's so small and petite--small enough that I could scoop her into my arms and have her naked and begging in a heartbeat.
