Her throaty moans grew more urgent with each stroke, echoed by Logan’s guttural groans rumbling through his chest. Teetering on the edge of oblivion, Lou’s breath hitched, her hold on reality slipping with every beat of her heart. Waves of pleasure crashed over her, obliterating her senses, and carrying her away on a torrent of ecstasy. Each surge of elation sent tremors through her body, each sensation a delicious torment. She clung to him as the intensity gradually faded, finally collapsing against the mattress, weak and breathless. “What the hell was that? she murmured softly.
Logan’s muscles tensed, a low moan escaping his lips as waves of ecstasy washed over him, merging with Lou’s overwhelming sensations. Their bodies stilled, consumed by the intensity of their connection. Collapsing onto the bed beside her, he drew her into his arms, their sweat-drenched forms intertwined. “Beats me,” Logan replied, his voice filled with raw emotion, before tenderly kissing her forehead. “But that was fucking mind-blowing.”
Chapter eight
Lou stretched lazily, her eyes squinting against the bright sunlight ricocheting off the white walls. She lay there, basking in the sun’s warming rays, and let out a contented sigh.
Dani’s party had been a triumph. Even that little troublemaker, Sofia, hadn’t been able to hide her jealousy when Ty Willis arrived. For the first time in a long while, Lou had seen her daughter genuinely happy, and it was all thanks to Logan.
Fuuuuuck, Logan.
She slid a tentative hand over the sheet, immediately snatching it back when she felt a warm body beside her.
The shame of it. What the hell had she been thinking, sleeping with Logan? Clearly, she hadn’t been, at least not with her brain, anyway. Stripping off and demanding he fuck her was way out of character for her.
Her breath caught in her throat as an arm snaked around her naked body, pulling her into him. A soft snore escaped her lips, hoping he’d think she was asleep and leave, but it was hard to ignore the semi-erect penis pressing against her back.
‘Hey,’ he murmured into her hair. In a desperate bid to dissuade him, she released yet another soft snore, hoping to maintain the illusion of sleep, her body remaining rigid and unyielding. A shiver coursed through her as he gingerly swept her hair aside, exposing the tender skin of her neck to his kisses.
A sudden noise downstairs startled her. Her heart skipped a beat as she imagined the unimaginable: her daughter, Dani, finding her in bed with a man. With her panic levels rising, she leapt out of bed, taking the sheet with her. Last night she’d been drunk with lust and been consumed with having sex with Logan, but the judgemental sunlight was a friend to no one. “Get up.”
“I knew you were awake.”
“You have to go.”
Exhibiting none of Lou’s body confidence issues, he turned onto his back, linking his fingers behind his head. “Go where?”
How the hell was she supposed to know? She didn’t care. He just needed to leave. She raced around the bedroom, forcing herself to keep her mind and eyes on the task of gathering up his clothes. “I don’t know … anywhere.” She tossed them towards him in an attempt to cover him. “But you have to get dressed and leave right now.”
An amused smile spread across his face. “Funny,” he said with a knowing look. “That’s not what you said last night,”
“That was-” She let out an exasperated sigh. “Different.” His casual attitude and nakedness were really starting to annoy her.
“How is it different? Come back to bed,” he invited, patting the space beside him. “You know you want to.”
It was a tempting offer, and she considered it for all of thirty seconds before the thought of Dani finding him here filled her with horror. It didn’t even bear thinking about. “I’m serious. You have to leave before someone sees you.”
“What are we? Fifteen?” he chuckled. “Don’t tell me you’re worried that your dad might catch me sneaking out?”
“No, my daughter actually.”
Reaching for his boxers, he slipped them halfway up his legs. “Last chance.” She flashed him a warning look. “Fine,” he said grudgingly, pulling them up.
She returned from the bathroom a couple of minutes later, fully dressed. “Can’t you move any faster?” she garbled through a mouth full of toothpaste foam.
“Relax, will you?”
“Easy for you to say,” she replied from the bathroom. “It’s not your daughter that might burst in on us at any second, is it?” That wasn’t strictly true. There was no way her daughter would be up at this hour. Waking up with a strange man in her bed wasn’t something she did on a regular basis. Even in her student days, she’d never been one to sleep around or indulge in one-night stands. Not that she judged anyone who did it. It was a personal choice. But for her, it felt … weird. “You need to leave,” she said with a sense of urgency. “Now.” He reached for his phone. “What are you doing?” This wasn’t the time for him to be checking his messages.
“I need to call a taxi. Ty took my car, remember?”
Yes. Crap. A taxi would be at least another forty minutes, and that was provided he could find one at this time of the morning. “I’ll drive you, and for fuck’s sake, will you get a move on?”
Lou cautiously opened the bedroom door and peered outside, carefully scanning the landing to ensure no one else was around. Motioning for him to follow her, she pressed her finger to her lips like she was leading some kind of special services rescue mission behind enemy lines.
They tiptoed down the stairs with Lou checking around corners before giving him the all-clear to follow her. “Shh,” she hissed, spinning around with a fierce glare at the sound of gravel crunching beneath their feet. Stealthily navigating the driveway, she ducked behind the rental cars belonging to her guests and beckoned him to follow her. “Get down.” Her grip tightened on his arm, pulling him down to a low crouch. “Someone might see us.”
“It's five-thirty in the morning—”
