“I don't know … a couple of times, maybe,” Dani replied, her voice faltering slightly.

Logan sensed her evasion, and his gaze hardened. “I want the truth,” he demanded, his stare leaving no room for lies.

“Okay, maybe a little more,” Dani reluctantly admitted, her memory failing her. “I don’t remember exactly.”

His worry grew as he asked the next question, his tone firm. “And what about other substances? Has he ever tried to pressure you into experimenting with harder drugs?”

Indignation mixed with fear in Dani's voice as she retorted, “No, of course not! What's wrong with you? Why are you asking all these questions?”

Ignoring her outburst, Logan persisted, his concern overriding her resistance. “Just answer the question,” he pressed; his voice unwavering.

“No, I already told you,” Dani snapped, frustration mounting. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

“Hey, watch your language,” Logan admonished, his tone firm.

Dani's anger flared as she accused him, “You're acting like some kind of freak, asking me all these questions. Who do you think you are? My father?”

Taking a deep breath, Logan attempted to steady his racing emotions. Dani's words had struck a chord with him. He acknowledged he wasn't her father and had no right to dictate her choices. “I just care about you and am concerned about the choices you’re making,” he explained, his voice filled with genuine concern. “Dani, you're still young, and these dealers are experts at manipulation. They know how to exploit vulnerability, tempting you with free samples that may seem harmless at first. But it's a slippery slope, leading to more dangerous substances and addiction. I've seen firsthand the heart-breaking consequences for other girls who got caught in that trap, and I don't want that for you.

“I won't. I don't even like weed. It makes me feel sick,” Dani insisted, her tone defiant. Her words carried a sense of frustration as if she was tired of being judged. “And he's not a proper dealer, anyway. He just deals a bit of weed and some club drugs. Nothing major. Besides, you've got a nerve lecturing me about drugs when he gets it from your club.”

Logan felt a surge of anger rising within him, fuelled by the weight of Dani's accusation. His mind immediately turned to Matti, the missing puzzle piece that had been haunting him for weeks. The suspicions had lingered, but Dani's words now confirmed his worst fears. It was true, Matti was the one dealing drugs in his club, tainting the place he had worked so hard to build.

“No, I meant Angel,” Dani corrected him with unwavering certainty, her voice cutting through the heavy silence. “Everyone knows about her and Álvaro Sánchez.”

Logan's eyes widened, shock pulsating through his veins like an electric current. It was a punch to the gut, a betrayal that struck deep. He slumped back in his seat, his mind swirling with a mix of disbelief, anger, and a profound sense of betrayal.

Not everyone.

A heavy silence settled in the room, interrupted by the sudden ping of Dani's phone. Logan's gaze sharpened as he observed her reaching for it.

Logan's concern deepened as he noticed the panicked look on Dani's face. Instinctively, he leaned in closer, his voice filled with urgency. “What is it?” he demanded, his eyes searching hers for answers.

“Shit's hit the fan. I have to disappear for a while and need cash.” Dani's words hung in the air, sending a ripple of unease through the room. “It’s from Pieter.”

A surge of conflicting emotions gripped Logan as he wrestled with the decision. “Ignore it … no, wait. I'll go myself,” he said, his mind a whirlwind of concern for Dani's safety and the burning desire to unravel the truth behind Angel's association with Álvaro Sánchez. Deep down, a nagging voice whispered that this connection could be tied to the ongoing money laundering investigation that loomed over him. “Find out where he is.”

Dani rose to her feet, her thumbs tapping on the phone screen as she headed towards the door with a determined stride.

Logan's voice cut through the air, filled with concern and caution. “Where do you think you're going?”

“I'm coming with you,” Dani asserted, her voice filled with determination. Logan's eyes widened, his protective instincts kicking in.

“Absolutely not. It could be a trap, and I won't risk anything happening to you. Your mother would never forgive me.”

Dani's defiance flared; her gaze unwavering. “I'm not a kid, Logan. I'm sixteen, and Pieter is my friend.”

Logan's voice took on a solemn tone, emphasising the gravity of the situation. “Álvaro Sánchez is a very dangerous man, Dani. If this is connected to him, things could turn nasty.”

A flicker of defiance crossed Dani's face as she stood her ground. “All the more reason for me to be there. I can hide in the car, and if anything goes wrong, I can call the police.” Her eyes bore into Logan's, unyielding in her determination. Logan shook his head resolutely.

“No, Dani.”

A stubborn resolve settled in Dani's expression as she held her ground. “Well, I'm not giving you the address, then.”

“Dani, I know where he lives,” Logan stated firmly.

Dani's brows furrowed in disbelief. “Do you think he's dumb enough to be hiding in his own apartment? That's the first place anyone would look for him.”
