Fuck.
Shit.

HAYDEN
When I open my eyes, Halo’s still nestling beside me, but I don’t want to move. When she tosses a bit before waking up herself, I pretend to be asleep in hopes that she’ll stay right here in bed with me.
Only, my little angel decides it’s time to get up and do things. I watch her touch her inner thighs and her little pussy. She must be sore. I think about waiting until she’s in the shower to surprise her. I’ll eat her pussy until it’s not sore anymore.
Just as I’m about to get up, my phone chimes from somewhere, and as I search for it, I have to turn onto my side with my back to the door. I hear Halo moving about outside the room and heading downstairs.
I should get up too, but something tells me to look out her window. I stand there for a moment until I see a familiar car rolling down the street. Fuck. I move around to another window and already see Tony and his goons moving around the house. I need to get to Halo before they do.
I slip on my boxers and jeans and decide my best bet is to go out the window. There’s a gutter and some metal rungs attached to the brick facade that I use to pull myself up and onto the roof. After I call the cops, I wait for the guys to get themselves in position so I know who to take out first.
Halo’s not screaming, but I don’t want her alone with any of them.
I move quickly and must look insane to anyone watching this shit go down. Half naked and barefoot traipsing across some old roof to get the drop on an uninvited guest. The first guy never sees me coming as I use the corner of the house like a tree to climb down.
When he turns to look over his shoulder, my moves are swift as I duck and come around behind him, putting him in a headlock until I feel his pulse slow. His eyes close and I move him into the bushes.
I take his gun and scurry along the fence to take count of the guys to make sure no one else showed up while I was making my way off the roof. It’s still three others walking around. I see Tony pointing a gun at Halo through a window that I have to duck down in order to avoid them spotting me.
The next guy is easy enough. I round the corner to the front of the house just as he’s about to round the corner to the side I’m coming from. When I knock his skull against the brick wall, he curses but doesn’t fall. Fuck.
He’s in a daze, so I use it to my advantage, punching him in the face and moving him toward the cars blocking mine in the driveway. I fish a pair of keys out of his pocket, pop the trunk and toss him inside. The cops can let him out.
Two more to go.
“I think he’s over here,” one of the goons calls out. “Where’s Randy and Quinn?”
They’re unconscious, boys, and y’all are next. I move around to the other side, sneaking up behind one of the guys, and do the same move, rendering him unconscious and leaving him on the ground.
“Boss,” the last one calls out. “The guys are gone.”
“Well we ain’t leaving until I get my shit,” Tony shouts from inside the house. I watch him for a second, knowing that I need to get this last guy out of the equation. The bonus of being barefoot on grass is the ability to move quickly and quietly. The guy never stands a chance by the time I reach him. I grab him and give him a few blows to his kidney before he crumbles to the ground in pain.
I drag him to the front and toss him in the trunk with his buddy.
When I’m done, I look up to see Tony standing on the porch. Halo’s in front of him and there’s a gun pointing at her head.
“You don’t want that kind of problem, Tony,” I tell him with my hands up, showing that I don’t have any weapons in my hand. I’m still moving away from their cars and toward mine.
“Give me my bag or this pretty little bitch is gonna catch a bullet.”
His threats do nothing but enrage me. When I see Halo, there isn’t fear in her eyes. She’s just as angry as me.
“Who are you calling a bitch?” she asks. Locking her fists together, she ducks down out of his grasp and comes up swinging her locked hands like a baseball bat, connecting with Tony’s jaw.
She doesn’t waste time sprinting away from him and ducking behind my car. He shoots at the both of us, forcing us to duck down. I pull her close to me, looking her over quickly.
“I’m okay, Daddy.”
My heart is at ease for now. But this shit needs to end. I give her a chaste kiss on the forehead, telling her, “I’ll be right back. The police are on the way.”
