It’s probably nothing to worry about. We get “so-called” independent journalists sneaking around the garage every once in a while, looking for things to post on their social media. But with the odd delivery driver at my place and now this, I intend to keep my eyes open.

We sit through our morning meeting and leave with our assignments. I’m on traffic duty, which means I’ll be spending most of my shift sitting in my car thinking about Leah. She’s been with me for a few days now, and we haven’t had any discussion about the future.

I don’t know what she’s planning, but I know I’m not ready for her to move out. This girl has me so wound up that I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready for that. I suppose it’s a good thing the diner cut her hours. At this rate, it will take even longer for her to get on her feet and look for a new place of her own.

No, she’s better off with me. I know this city and I know she’ll never be able to afford a safe place in a decent neighborhood on her income. I’m invested in her now, and I won’t let her put herself in a bad situation.

After writingfour speeding tickets and one citation for a broken taillight, my shift comes to an end, and not a minute too soon. I rush home, overwhelmed by my desire not only to see the results of Leah’s shopping trip but also by my desire just to be in the same space with her. She’s taken hold of me in a way I didn’t think possible. Not complaining, though. Something about coming home to her just feels right.

I open the front door and drop my keys on the table beside the door. I can hear her in the bedroom and so I shout, “I’m home.”

“I’ll be right there,” she calls back and I take a seat on the sofa. My foot taps wildly as I anticipate her reveal.

She steps into the room wearing a long, royal blue dress that’s slit up one leg. The straps are embellished with what looks like sapphires surrounded by something glistening. It shows off every curve of her amazing body. Curves and dips that I want to memorize.

Just a hint of cleavage shows and a diamond pendant sits atop her pale breasts. Her hair is pulled up and away from her face but hangs in long curls in the back. She lifts the dress slightly and shows me her matching heels.

I rise from my seat and walk straight to her, taking her in my arms. “You are the most beautiful girl in the world.”

“Thank you. I hoped you would like it,” she smiles.

“Like it? I love it,” I take her hand and place it on my stiff cock. Her cheeks turn red and she lets out a nervous giggle, “That’s what you do to me, malyshka.”

“About that…”

“What is it?”

“What does that mean? Ma-mal?”

“Malyskha.”

“Yes.”

“Baby.”

“Oh.” A flush creeps on her cheeks and I smirk. Yes, I do things to her. Same way she does things to me and my body.

I shower and dress quickly. I made reservations for dinner and I don’t want to be late. I had planned on wearing a black suit and white shirt but seeing Leah’s dress inspired me and I put on my dress pants and a button-down in a lighter shade of blue than her dress.

She looks at me as I enter the room and her face lights up, “You look very handsome.”

“Thank you. Shall we?”

I made our reservation at One If by Land Two If by Sea, which is a completely repurposed carriage house once owned by Aaron Burr. I chose it specifically because of the romantic atmosphere. It’s been considered one of the city’s most popular places to propose marriage for almost fifty years. While I’m not planning to pop the question, I figure if it’s got that kind of reputation, it will show Leah how serious I am about having her in my life.

We arrive and are seated at a candle-lit table directly across from the roaring fire. A man in a tuxedo with tails is playing a gentle melody on the piano. Leah surveys the room and then looks at me, “This is beautiful.”

I take her hand and brush her knuckles along my lips. “Not as beautiful as you.”

Her eyes blaze with heat and she smiles softly.

Leah opens the menu, looks down at it, and then back up at me.

“What’s wrong? Don’t see anything that you want?”

“No, I’m just not sure what to order. I’ve never really eaten in a place like this before.”
