His gaze followed me, and he smiled brightly.
“Aria, no!” Nick and Gabriel yelled at the same time.
They started moving toward me.
“One more step and I am cutting her throat,” he said, making them stop. “Come on, little bird. We need to go.”
My whole body trembled when I started walking to him. I completely ignored the shouting around me.
When I was within his reach, he pushed Cassie to the ground and grabbed my hand. He took a few steps back and pulled me to him.
He turned me around so I would face my friends and placed a knife under my throat.
They were staring at me with terrified expressions on their faces. Nick’s canines lengthened and his fingers were replaced by his claws. He was growling so loudly I could feel vibrations through my body.
He leaned in and rubbed his nose up and down my jaw, inhaling deeply. I closed my eyes and felt a tear roll down my cheek. I wanted to throw up.
“How I missed you, little bird,” he said. “You smell amazing.”
“Get your fucking hands off of her!” Nick yelled.
His voice was so much deeper. Nate was close to the surface.
“Why would I stop touching what’s mine?” he yelled back at Nick and laughed. “I finally got her back. I am keeping her this time.”
I opened my eyes to look at my friends. The people I love. The people I will never see again.
“I am so sorry,” I said quietly, tears rolling down my cheeks. “I love you all. Please forgive me.”
CHAPTER FORTY-THREE – Taking What’s Mine
Calvin’s POV
After almost getting caught at the club, I had to be careful. They probably figured out I was following her, so I had to get rid of the car and find another way to keep tabs on her.
I decided to do it in my wolf form.
The forest behind the house she was staying at was huge, so my wolf and I had plenty of places to hide. I made sure to be close so I could hear if they came outside, but not so close that the hybrid boy could smell me.
After a few days of complete boredom, they finally made a move.
I could hear them loading the car and talking about leaving, but I couldn’t figure out where they were going. That pissed me off. I was fast, but I couldn’t really keep up with the car. Maybe for a while, but not long.
Following them with a car was not an option. They would notice me.
I was going insane, thinking about all the ways my boss was going to torture me when I heard the other girl mention Aria’s old village. They were going back.
A huge smile appeared on my wolf’s face. She remembered. She knows.
I took off running, hoping to be there on time. If my assumptions were correct, she was going back to her friends. I remembered them from back when I was first following her.
It took me a while to run that distance, but it was worth it when I saw that fucker’s car parked in front of her friend’s house.
I had to wait again. Other than those two fuckers getting their bags from the car, nothing much happened. Nobody left or entered the house.
I was lucky that both houses were close to the forest. I could stay close by to see what was going on but remain hidden.
My boss called a few times, but I had nothing to inform. He was getting impatient waiting for her powers to resurface. He told me to wait a little longer before taking her. He didn’t care if she showed her power by this time. He would have to force the power out of her if she didn’t show it on her own.
