Cassie stood up and started walking toward the front door.
“No!” Blake and I said at the same time.
Blake grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
“Wait here,” I said. “Blake and I will see who it is.”
CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO – Surprise Guest
Gabriel’s POV
Nick and I were driving back from the forest.
I was gripping the wheel tightly. We found nothing. Again.
Nick was staring through the window. His body was rigid, and he was clenching his jaw. He looked like he was in pain.
I tried to loosen my grip on the wheel. I would pull it out if I continued like this.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
This whole thing was killing me. I had no fucking idea how I will continue like this. I needed something. I needed some fucking clue that will bring me closer to my sister.
I parked in the driveway and turned the engine off. Neither I nor Nick made a move to exit the car.
I saw the front door opening and Jacob running toward my car.
He looked excited.
What the fuck happened? Why was he excited all of a sudden?
He ripped my door open, and I raised my eyebrows at him. “What the fuck, man?”
“There is someone inside who wants to talk to you,” he said impatiently.
I was surprised. Who the hell even knew we were here?
Nick leaned forward to look at Jacob over my shoulder. “Who?”
“Patricia Jones!” he said with a smile.
I heard Nick gasp and my eyebrows shot up.
She was here?!
I pushed Jacob aside and hurriedly sprinted to the front door. Nick was right behind me.
I ran inside and frantically looked around the living room. Where the hell was she?!
“Kitchen!” I heard Jacob shout behind me.
Nick ran past me and opened the door to the kitchen.
She was sitting at the table, sipping coffee. It was the same woman from that photo Sebastian gave me. Her brown hair was now half-gray. There were wrinkles around her black eyes, and her face was no longer smooth. She looked calm and collected. Her posture was rigid, but not like she was afraid. More like, she valued herself highly and thought she was above all of us. Considering what Sebastian found out about her, I didn't think that was far from being true.
She glanced up at us and smirked.
“Well, you two look like shit,” she said with amusement in her voice.
