I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.

She was right.

I know Gabriel would have done it immediately if he had thought it would help. I would have done it. But I know it could be dangerous.

If not done properly and carefully, healing with magic could do even more damage. Bones could heal improperly, and open wounds could get infected or not close properly. It was even more dangerous with an internal bleeding. You can’t see the source, and you can leave it damaged, thinking that you fixed it, only for the person to die.

Potions can be used in healing, but they can’t heal everything. There were only a selected few conditions that could be treated with a potion. I knew Aria was a healer. That bitch Grace actually taught her something useful. Maybe there was a potion Aria could make that would help her heal at least some of her wounds.

“You could ask Gabriel to heal some of her bruises,” Patricia said, pulling me away from my thoughts. “He could do that, and it would help her not to freak out when she wakes up and takes a look at her body.”

I nodded and waited for Patricia to finish cleaning up so I could go to my mate.

She put her things in her medical bag and turned toward me.

“I am done here,” she said as she placed the bag on her shoulder. “Stay with her. The mate bond will help her heal.”

I nodded. “There is no fucking way I am leaving this room.”

Patricia gave me a small smile. “Just be careful.”

“Of course,” I smiled back and walked over to Aria.

She left the room and closed the door behind her.

I took off my shoes and carefully laid down next to her.

“Hey, baby,” I said quietly and took a deep breath of her scent.

My nose scrunched up immediately. She smelled like Gabriel.

Fuck.

The blood transfusion.

She wouldn’t smell like herself for a few hours, probably.

“You smell like your brother,” I said as I traced her jaw with my fingers. “It is kind of freaking me out, but I would have you smell like him forever if it meant you were safe.”

I stopped talking, wishing she would respond.

But she didn’t. She was sleeping peacefully.

“I missed you, love,” I said as I got close to her.

I carefully wrapped an arm over her belly, and I leaned my head on hers.

The tingles and sparks I missed like crazy spread all over my body. Every ache I had was gone. She was in my arms. I could see her. I could feel her. I could touch her soft skin. I could run my hand through her silky hair. She was here. And she was mine.

The only thing I was missing was her voice. I needed to hear her say my name. I needed to hear her say she loved me.

I will be complete when she wakes up.

I kissed the top of her head and pulled her closer to me, minding her injuries.

I heard the door open, and I saw Gabriel walk inside.

He pulled a chair close to the bed and took her hand in his.
