“Okay.” I went up on my tiptoes and gave him a light kiss on his cheek before I walked over to the passenger side and got in.
I can do this.
ChapterThirty
KAYDEN
The word nervous didn’t begin to describe how I was feeling right now. Tomorrow wasn’t only Tillie’s birthday, but also the only chance I had to meet Clark.
The entire time I took everything that had happened, what I had found out, so lightly because it, for some reason, didn’t reach my brain.
My father isn’t my father.
My Mom has lied to me my entire life.
If Tillie found out I had lied to her, she was going to be pissed for sure, but I had to tell her. I decided that I was going to tell her everything after I had met my biological father.
There was nothing I wanted from him anymore. No, I was too old to start a daddy-son relationship with a stranger just because he knocked my mom up years ago. Besides, I didn’t really want to have anything to do with someone who got two women pregnant at the same time.
I just wanted to meet him to tell him I was his son. He deserved to know I existed, the same as I deserved to talk to him at least once.
The next problem was getting back home. Patrick hated me even more now… well, he hated me before, but now that everything was out in the open, I had no clue how this would affect my daily life.
If I got kicked out, I was sure Tillie would let me sleep in her room, but besides that, my life as I knew it would be over.
It was going to be interesting.
“Does anyone want my pickles?” Theo asked.
Breakfast was already over, so we went and got some burgers.
“Yeah, I’ll take them.” Autumn picked them off his burger.
I saw Tillie smiling as she side-eyed them.
We made sure to finish our food here before we continued driving, my- Tillie was already nervous because of the long drive, I didn’t want to scare her by driving with a burger in one hand.
“What are you smiling about?” I whispered while she kept looking at her cousin and Theo. Autumn didn’t like onions, so she gave them to Theo.
“The olive theory,” she answered with a smile.
“From the sitcom?”
“Yes, they are perfect for another.”
“I don’t know about that, they are both pretty feisty.”
“You’re right, but they would make a cute couple, does Theo do this stuff?” she asked, taking a bite of her own burger.
“I don’t know, he told me he likes physical contact when he feels like it, and did lose his virginity to Autumn.” I swallowed. “He’s my best friend and I always try to understand everything about him, but sometimes I’m still not up-to-date with where he’s at. He didn’t tell me much about what happened that night.”
There was no reason for me to know. If he wanted to tell me, he would soon enough.
“If they someday find comfort in one another, I’d be happy for them. They both deserve a safe place in their lives,” Tillie mumbled, and ate the last bite of her burger.
“Do we have the olive theory?” I asked her with a chuckle when I saw her thoughtful expression while she swallows.
“We… No, you hate the same things I hate. Kayden, we have no olive theory.” She almost looked sad. I wiped some ketchup off her upper lip and laughed.
