She reached across the table and squeezed his hand. “We’re still sorry about Peter.”

Henry had dated him for three months. They’d agreed their relationship was exclusive, except, for Peter, it actually hadn’t been. He’d already been in a long-term relationship with someone else.

“Screw Peter.” Brigid scowled. “You’re too good for him, Henry. There are tons of better-looking, more successful men in this bar alone.”

“All straight.”

Hannah tilted her head. “How do you know?”

“Hannah, we’ve spoken about this. We just know.” Henry rolled his eyes and turned to Brigid. “Talking about good-looking men, where’s James?”

“He’s meeting us later. I told him if he doesn’t, I’ll hold out on him for a month.”

Henry scoffed. “You wouldn’t last a week, let alone a month.”

“Hey, give a woman something to be mad about and she’s unstoppable.”

Hannah laughed as a man stepped into the bar from the hotel foyer. She frowned when she realized she recognized him.

“Oh God,” she whispered, even though there was no way he’d have heard her from over there. “That’s Erik’s friend. Italian Ferrari guy.”

Brigid looked first. “Oh my God, it is.”

Henry glanced over, and Hannah gasped. “Don’t! He’ll see you looking!”

Too late. The guy turned, and when his gaze hit hers, his lips stretched into a smile.

Henry turned back, his eyes far too wide. “He. Is. Hot!”

Hannah drained the last drop of her drink before Marco stopped beside her.

“Hannah, Brigid, what a lovely surprise.” His Italian-accented voice slid over her skin like silk, then he bent and kissed both her cheeks before doing the same to Brigid. “And may I say, you both look beautiful.”

Henry made a choking sound beside them.

Brigid dipped her head. “It’s nice to see you too, Marco.”

“Are you staying here?” Hannah asked.

“I am.”

God, the guy’s gaze was so intense. She almost wanted to squirm under the scrutiny.

Henry cleared his throat.

“Oh, sorry.” Hannah turned to look at him. “Marco, this is our friend Henry. Henry, this is Erik’s friend, Marco.”

He reached across and shook Henry’s hand. Then his gaze returned to Hannah. “May I have a drink with you? I don’t know anyone in town except Erik.”

“Yes,” Henry said so quickly, Hannah didn’t have time to answer. “Join us. Please. We’re always looking to expand our friendship group.”

They were? She distinctly remembered the man telling her on numerous occasions he didn’t have time for new people.

Marco gave them that smooth smile again. “Great. I’ll get us a round.”

They each gave Marco their drink order, and the second he stepped away, Brigid grabbed her arm. “Okay, we don’t need to cry about Erik anymore. Marco being here is clearly a sign that you have a new sexy man friend to fantasize about.”

Hannah laughed. “He’s not really my type.”
