He shrugged. “I don’t really recall.”
She snorted. “Was it a website that you used specifically to find baby names?”
“Not the point,” he said, giving a chuckle.
She laughed and leaned back into him. “Okay, what did you find?”
“Jonathan?”
“No, too normal.”
“Rusty.”
“God, no.”
He sighed. “Okay, what about Logan?”
“That’s nice.”
“But only if it’s a girl,” he clarified.
“Then no.”
“What’s wrong with Logan if it’s a girl?”
“Because I said so,” she chirped.
Liam chuckled, and she felt it against her back. She pulled the blanket closer, wanting to remember this moment. Liam had picked her up from work, gotten her dinner, and cleaned for her. Not because he had to but because he wanted to. It made her heart feel whole.
EIGHT
LIAM
Liam looked at his phone once more, smirking at Emma’s response. She was at work, and he’d been messing with her since she arrived several hours ago.
She’d told him about all the papers she had to go through and how she had a meeting after lunch, which she was leaving for right then.
Someone cleared their throat, and he pulled his gaze up from his phone. Alex stood in the doorway with Zack and Dustin, whom he trusted. He forgot they had been waiting.
“You good, or do you need a moment?” Alex chirped, looking pleased with himself.
He looked back at his phone, seeing that Emma had her meeting. It was the perfect time for him to have his. He waved them inside and set his phone aside.
He leaned back in his chair, having called them into his living room. He wasn’t a huge fan of using his office, and even when he should, he didn’t. He liked his living room better. There was more space.
“You called us?”
He nodded. “Yes, I informed Alex yesterday that two guys from a rival clan were talking to Emma outside her work. I’m not entirely sure what transpired, but I don’t need it happening again. I need to know what they said to her and why they were warning her to stay away from me.”
Zack shrugged. “Well, being as they are our rivals, I could say they just wanted to get in between you two.”
“I understand that, but to go so far as to know where she works. I don’t like it. I don’t want them anywhere near her.”
Dustin nodded. “All right, we can look into that.”
“I want it to be clear I will not tolerate any behavior like this in the future if it involves my mate.”
They all nodded.
