“Mmm, I’m planning on it, gorgeous,” he purred, kissing her again before pulling away and stepping back.
“Are you two done snogging?” Glitch demanded grumpily. “It’s disgusting, you know.”
“Jealous?” Razor taunted.
Glitch rolled her eyes. “I don’t want a man in my life, thank you very much. All they do is get in my way. Like you’re doing right now, so let’s go.” She turned and stomped toward the basement stairs, leaving them to follow her.
When Karissa and Razor entered the gym area, she saw that most of the club was down here already, including the other women, Wren and Win, and even Gabe and Ronin in the corner. They had the boxing ring set up and she saw that Rogue and Fury were going at it already, both grunting and groaning as the other landed strikes.
“Come on, Rogue, kick his ass!” Wren called.
“No, you kick his ass, Papa!” Gabe yelled back on the other side. Karissa snickered when Esme rolled her eyes, obviously realizing that there was no point in scolding him because half the other men in the room were yelling far worse.
Karissa turned away from the ring and headed over to the mats on the other side of the room. If she was going to be fighting, she needed to stretch out. If Glitch hadn’t interrupted them, she had a feeling she would be a lot more limber right now. Glitch sat down beside her to do the same, neither of them speaking. Razor had been drawn into the fights and was currently standing with Jax, the two of them calling out insults to each fighter to try and egg them on.
“So that’s him, huh?” Glitch said conversationally.
Karissa glanced over at her as she reached for toes. “What do you mean?” she asked, unsure of what exactly she was getting at. Glitch was hard to read at times.
“The one who held you here, but also the one who’s keeping you here because you want to stay with him,” Glitch said seriously.
Karissa looked over at her sharply. There was something in her tone. Almost a disbelief. “That bother you?” Karissa asked evenly.
Glitch shrugged. “I don’t know. I looked into him and I didn’t find anything concerning, but I guess in my head you’ll always be the badass that never needed anyone, especially a man.”
“I don’t need a man,” Karissa reminded her. “Razor and I, we’re still figuring things out, but I care about him. And to be fair, Glitch, we haven’t talked in years, or seen each other in even longer. You can’t assume I’m the same person I was then.”
“You’re right,” Glitch sighed. “I’m sorry. I’m pissed I had to come here in the first place.” She gave her a sideways look.
Karissa rolled her eyes. “I already apologized, and I’m going to let you pound on me. What more do you want?”
Her face broke out into a grin. “I’ll let you know. But just because we haven’t talked doesn’t mean I didn’t keep tabs on you.”
Somehow, that didn’t surprise Karissa in the least. It was a very Glitch thing to do. “Did you know about Sena?” she asked her.
Glitch frowned. “I saw the initial police report, but I didn’t see anything else. I never realized she continued to be a problem. But to be fair, before you joined the team, I did a deep dive into you.” Karissa tried not to think about everything she would have found. Glitch never mentioned it before, so she figured there wasn’t much there that concerned her. Especially since she still joined the team and the two of them were friends of sorts. Well, as much as they could be in that situation. “I’m going to help you find her,” Glitch added as she flipped to her stomach and moved into a plank position.
Karissa did the same, and said tightly, “Appreciate it. But we need to figure out where she’s hiding first.”
“I have some ideas on that. I just need to convince the computer biker to let me use his system. He’s pretty protective over it.” She sniffed.
Karissa shot her a dry look. “Pot to kettle.” She lowered to the ground to relax for a moment before starting again.
Glitch lowered and did the same, their old workout routine coming back to them like it was only a day instead of years since they’d done this together. “Okay, fine, you have a point,” Glitch conceded, “but we need to put egos aside if we’re going to catch this bitch.”
“You told him that his system sucked and he was lazy,” Karissa scoffed. “Do you really think that’s going to endear you to him?”
“I thought bikers were supposed to be all manly, not let facts hurt their feelings,” Glitch whined. Karissa leveled her with an incredulous look before she lowered again and rolled to her back to do some quick sit-ups. Glitch groaned. “Fine, fine, I’ll apologize. But if he still doesn’t let me use his shit, you’re going to have to help me convince him to.”
“Alright,” Karissa said with a chuckle. “By the way, it’s good to see you,” she added with a grin. “Missed your ugly mug, shorty.”
“Missed you too, babe,” Glitch said with a wink. Then she moved fast and tackled Karissa back onto the mat, making Karissa let out an oof of surprise. “Damn, your reflexes are slow,” Glitch laughed, then let out a screech when Karissa bucked her off and sent her flying.
“Slow my ass, bitch,” Karissa laughed, climbing to her feet.
“Save that for the ring,” Simba called out to them.
“Then tell all these men to hurry the hell up,” Karissa called back, grinning over at Glitch, who was grinning back at her.
