KARISSA
One Month Later
She walked into Esme and Fury’s, rolling her eyes when she found Fury pressing Esme up against the fridge, kissing the shit out of her. “Jeez, you two could at least lock the door,” she said loudly.
Fury pulled his mouth from Esme’s, and turned to glare at her. “Get out,” he ordered her.
“Nope. You’ll have to get your rocks off later,” she said as she leaned against the island. “Your woman and I have some things to talk about.” Fury glared at her, almost as if he could will her to leave. Karissa held his stare until he finally let out a snarl, turned his head back to a grinning Esme, and kissed her hard again. “I’ll be back,mi tesoro,” he murmured. Then he let her go and stalked out of the house, slamming the door behind him.
“Do you actually have something to talk about or are you just trying to piss him off?” Esme asked as she pushed away from the fridge and grabbed a couple bottles of water from inside. She tossed one to Karissa before opening hers and taking a sip.
“Both,” Karissa said with a grin. Esme snickered. “So, have you told him yet?” she asked.
Esme frowned at her in confusion. “Told him what?”
Karissa arched a brow. “That you’re pregnant,” she said easily.
Esme froze. “How did you know?” she asked finally. “I only found out myself this morning.”
Karissa shrugged. “You’re moody, your boobs are bigger, and you just about puked when you smelled whatever it was that Scarlett and the girls were cooking up in the kitchen at the clubhouse yesterday. Doesn’t take a genius.” Then she grinned and rounded the island to hug her tight. “I can’t wait to be an aunt again. Want to make bets now on whether or not it’s a girl or a boy?”
Esme laughed. “I have a feeling it’s going to be a boy, but we’ll see. I think Fury would be happy with a girl. He takes great pleasure in reminding Savage he’s going to have two of them running around soon enough.”
As did everyone else in the club. A week after everything with Sena went down, the club was finally able to have a party for Royal and Savage, where Royal happily announced they were having identical twins. Of course, she made Savage tell everyone their gender, with him looking both terrified and resigned at the same time. Now, there wasn’t a day that went by that someone wasn’t reminding him of the fact that he was going to be outnumbered.
Wren and Win were especially excited at the news, and had taken it upon themselves to send Savage tidbits and trivia all the time so he could “prepare.” Savage took it in stride, but she knew he was still not quite ready for what the future held.
Karissa was sure Fury would handle it much better if he found out they were having a girl. Though she fully expected him to lose his shit as soon as Esme told him about the baby.
The past month had been a bit bumpy for her and Esme, trying to work on their friendship, but they managed it. Esme could hold a grudge, but Karissa had begged, apologized, and groveled until she finally relented and forgave her. Now, they were moving forward. Though Karissa wasn’t about to take it for granted ever again. Esme was her sister, and now that she was Razor’s Old Lady, they were always going to be tied together.
“When are you going to tell him?” Karissa asked, grinning at her.
“I was going to tell him this morning, but he distracted me, and then you came in,” Esme answered with a shrug. “I’ll tell him later.”
“Nope, you go and tell him right now,” Karissa ordered. “The man will be pissed if you keep something like this from him all day.”
Esme rolled her eyes. “He’ll put me in a bubble and try to control everything.”
Karissa smirked. “That’s what I’m here for. I’ll break you out and we can have all kinds of fun before he comes growling to haul you back in. And since you’re preggo, he won’t be able to yell at you. He can yell at me, but we both know he won’t do more than that.” She grinned wickedly.
Now that everyone knew her former profession, most avoided pissing her off. Or if they did, they stayed out of her way until she calmed down. Not Razor, of course, but he had other ways of letting her get her anger out. Hell, sometimes she started fights with him because she knew where it was going to end up, and she had a feeling he knew it. Of course, he didn’t complain.
Esme laughed. “As long as you promise to save me when he becomes overbearing, fine. Though I don’t know where he went so we might have to find him.”
“I didn’t hear his bike, so he’s around here somewhere,” Karissa said, hooking her arm through hers as they headed for the door. Gabe was already off to school, and Esme set her own hours at the garage, so they weren’t in any hurry.
“How are things going with you and Razor?” Esme asked as they left the house.
Karissa smirked. “I’m not complaining yet. I woke up with his head between my legs this morning, so I’m in a particularly good mood.”
Esme snorted. “You two are worse than Royal and Savage. But good for you,” she added with a wink.
Karissa hummed appreciatively. “Good for me indeed. He pisses me off just as much as he turns me on. The man seriously has no idea how to use a laundry basket. I told him if I found his boxers and socks all over the floor one more time I was going to smother him in his sleep.” He apparently took her seriously, because this morning he not only ate her like a pro, but he also cleaned up around the apartment and got her coffee in bed before he headed off to the garage to start his work day.
“Living with a man is definitely an adjustment,” Esme agreed as they headed for the garage to see if Fury was there. “I threatened to cut Fury off if he didn’t stop leaving his dirty dishes on the table for me to clean up when he was done eating. He’s ever so diligent cleaning about them up now.”
Karissa laughed. “Good for you. Make sure you milk that for all it’s worth now that you’re expecting. You could live like a queen for the next however many months.”
