Immediately after pressing send, I feel the heat rush to my cheeks, and immediately turn my chair away from Roman.

SUBJECT: RE: RE: RE: RE: Professionalism.
Feel free to seek a professional for your own peace of mind, but I can assure you mine is…immaculate.
Happy to provide any documentation you require.
And no, yesterday was an exception. That’s not something that I do…I usually pull out.
Roman Antonov.
CEO of Nikotech Investments.
I turn back to my computer, feeling myself blushing.
I was Roman’s exception.
“Nikotech Investments, Mr. Antonov’s office, Abby speaking, how may I assist you?”
“Hello Abby, this is Detective Hevon. I’m hoping to speak with Mr. Antonov. Is he available?”
My eyes widen as Roman rounds the corner, a stack of papers in his hand.
“Erm, one moment please.” I say sweetly, before placing the call on hold and staring up at Roman who’s now standing directly in front of my desk, his face red, and that vein in his neck throbbing.
Dropping the stack of papers, he smashes his hand down on a particular page.
“As you refused to look at article 6.1.3.2, I printed it out for you. Read it.”
Choosing to ignore him, because it’s clear he's trying to get a rise out of me, I nod my head toward the phone.
“There’s a call for you.”
“I don’t have anything scheduled today.” Roman replies, back into business mode.
“Yeah, okay, let me just tell Detective Hevon that.”
As I reach for the phone, Roman grabs my hand, pulling it away from the receiver.
“What does he want, Abigail?” He glares at me, his eyes full of suspicion.
“To speak to you,” I say, rolling my eyes. “I didn’t quite get that far before you dumped this ream of paper on my desk.”
“Fine, patch him through,” he states, adjusting the buttons on his sleeve before walking away and into his office. “And get reading.”
He walks into his office and closes the door.
My eyes track his movements, curiosity filling me at the idea of the police reaching out to Roman.
As he sits down at his desk I grab hold of the receiver once again, taking Detective Hevon off hold.
“I’ll transfer you through to him now!” I inform the detective brightly.
“No need. I’m in the lobby,” he replies before ending the call.
