“Of course,” I mutter, shocked by how his hand on my skin makes me feel.
“Her workbooks are in the library.” He points to a room with ornate glass doors at the end of the hall. “She does her lessons right after breakfast.”
“Alright.”
“Then, it’s lunch followed by playtime. If you want to take her swimming, that would be the time.”
He holds my arm through the entire interaction, and I begin to feel a warm sensation course through my veins. Desire floods my senses when his thumb starts tracing circles.
He seems to notice my reaction and must think that what I’m feeling is discomfort, even though it’s so much more the opposite.
“Are you alright? Do you understand everything I’ve just outlined for you?”
“Yes, it wasn’t complicated. I’m sorry. I mean, yes, I understand.”
“No, you’re right. It’s not complicated. You’ll have to forgive me. This is unfamiliar territory for me. Doesn’t help that I seem to forget what I’m trying to say when I look at your face.”
Wait, what? My legs quiver and my heartbeat quickens as I stare up into those hazel eyes like a teenager staring at her crush. I think he takes pleasure in seeing me this way because he slides his hand down from my elbow to my hand.
He strokes the back of my hand with his thumb and holds it up in the air. For a moment, I think he might actually kiss it but he pivots my body, turning me toward the kitchen, and says, “The girl is waiting. Better get to it.”
“Right. Okay, thank you. See you later, then.”
See you later, then? Like “later gator” or “catch you on the flipside”? My cheeks and neck are ablaze as I consider just how stupid I can be.

JACK
It’s hard to concentrate on anything this morning, and I find that my temper is becoming shorter and shorter by the minute. I’m dealing with life and death here, but I can’t maintain my focus. With every pause in the conversation, my mind wanders to the sweet thing caring for Macy.
“Boss? Boss, are you listening?” Rory asks.
“Yeah, dammit. What?” I snap.
“There’s nothing else to be done today. You’ve reached out to everyone who might take our side in a war. Now, all we can do is wait.”
“You’re right.”
I nod and leave my office with Rory following close behind.
“You should relax too, Rory. You’ve done well. Go get drunk and chase women.”
“I think I will. Call me if you need me.”
I make my way to the kitchen, expecting to see Macy and Jessie having lunch, but they aren’t there. I turn to leave but the sound of splashing outside the window catches my attention.
Walking to the sliding door, I peer outside and see Macy laughing and splashing as she floats in her inflatable tube. Jessie is seated on the concrete wearing a red bikini. She has her feet in the water and tosses a foam ball out for Macy to catch. I strain my neck trying to get a better view of her. Seeing this much skin makes my cock strain against my pants.
I’m going to lose my head if I don’t have her soon. What I’d do to hook that bikini to the side and drive myself home inside her.
If I go out there, I may not be able to control myself. I content myself just devouring her with my eyes until I see something that makes my blood boil.
Three of my men are gathered at the far corner of the garden, ogling Jessie like she’s a piece of meat. They keep just out of her line of sight, but from where I’m standing, I get a bird’s eye view of their hip-thrusting and lurid hand gestures.
Fucking assholes.
Without a moment's consideration, I storm out the door in their direction. Two who are facing me see me coming and stand at attention, but the one who has his back turned continues his antics until he sees his friend's terrified expression.
