Hell, who was Felix to stop him after that?

Felix all but jumped out of his skin when his front door slammed open and a person appeared like some sort of avenging superhero. Felix moved a frantic gaze over the man until he fell on the blue beads around the man’s neck.
Max.
His best friend stalked over and dropped his ass onto the coffee table, taking Felix’s face between his palms.
“Um. Bud,” Felix said very slowly, “I feel like this might be crossing lines with your boyfriend.”
Max’s gaze stayed narrow and searching. “Did he hurt you?”
Felix blinked rapidly, wondering if this was some sort of fever dream, or maybe he’d had a seizure and had been out of it for days. “Uh…what?”
“Jeremiah is freaking the fuck out. Apparently, the security tapes showed some guy attacking you last night.”
Felix sighed and gently pushed Max away, shifting over to make room for him on his little love seat. “Oh, god. No, he didn’t touch me,” Felix said. “He tried to punch through the Lyft’s window. And I’m pretty sure he hit that woman from last night before she showed up at the bar, but the tape should have only shown me jumping into the car and getting the fuck out of there.”
“Well, Jeremiah reviewed it,” Max said a little sheepishly.
Felix stared, then burst into laughter. “Your blind boyfriend was reviewing security tapes?”
“He didn’t have a choice. Dei called out today, and I had a client at nine this morning,” Max said, crossing his arms over his chest. “But a cop showed up to take a statement after the Lyft driver filed a report, so he had to take a look. No one’s been by to get a statement from you?”
Felix felt a small surge of panic. He’d been pretty out of it all morning, and one of his medications made him sleepy anyway, so there was every chance a cop had shown up and he’d missed them. Or, hell, he might have talked to them and then immediately forgot.
“I don’t remember,” he confessed.
Max softened. “Well, it’s no big, but they might show up at the shop tonight to get your side.”
Felix started to nod, then froze. “Did you say Dei called in sick?”
“Uh, yeah. But he does that from time to time. And he was already off work way before that guy showed up, so he definitely wasn’t involved in—”
“The woman was his sister,” Felix blurted.
Max’s brows shot high up on his forehead. “Sofia?” He jumped to his feet. “Some guy hit Sofia?”
“That guy’s been hitting her,” Felix answered, his stomach twisting in on itself. “Dei’s going to murder him if he ever has the balls to show his face. But she was a wreck, dude. And not just from him. She was wasted and definitely on drugs.”
Max rubbed at his eyes and sighed. “That’s fucking great. Uh…okay. Would you be cool going into work a little early? I need to stop by Midnight and look at those tapes for Jer.”
Felix was definitely not interested in going in early. His appointments were all later, and he was closing that night, so he’d be there ’til two. “I’ll catch a lift with Paris. And if he’s gone already, I’ll just get a car.”
Max gave him a helpless look. “But—”
Felix stopped him, reaching out to grab his wrist. “Max. The whole point of us breaking up as roommates was for me to do this shit on my own. Remember?”
“Yeah,” Max said with a scowl. “But I’d be just as freaked-out if this happened to any of the guys. Jeremiah said the guy was a fucking nutbag.”
Felix gave him a gentle pat on the arm. “Dei probably has a handle on it. He was more pissed that we were involved than anything.”
Max lifted a brow at him. “You talked to him?”
“Yeah, I walked Sofia home,” Felix told him. “Then he made me come in and drink herbal tea.”
Max’s lips started to curl into a grin. “Oh, really?”
