Jenna rammed her elbow into his side.

“Ow. What was that for?” He frowned at her.

“Be nice.” Jenna shook her head. “I apologize for my immature fiancé.”

“We’re used to it.” I pulled out the chair for Sunshine and then took the seat beside her. “Or, at least, I am.”

“Oh, yeah. Cause you’re so mature all the time.” Noah made a face at me before hiding behind his menu.

“What’s good here?” Sunshine flipped open her menu, her eyes widening at the multiple pages.

“I’ve never had anything I didn’t like.” Whitney dragged a wriggling Beckett onto her lap and kissed his hair. “Beckett likes the mac and cheese.”

Sunshine laughed. “Always good to have a backup plan.”

“I’ve always thought so.” Noah exchanged a lovey dovey look with Jenna.

I fought the urge to make a gagging motion. I probably couldn’t do that when everyone got gooey now that I had someone to be gooey with and about myself. My gaze flicked over to Tristan.

He heaved out a sigh. “Guess I need to get serious about finding a girlfriend now that Wes has one.”

“Oh, but I don’t.” I shook my head and slipped my arm around Sunshine’s shoulders. “I have a fiancée.”

“What?” Megan practically jumped out of her seat, but Cody pushed her back down. “When did this happen? How? Let me see the ring!”

Sunshine chuckled. “We’re going shopping after lunch.”

“And the rest?” Tristan shot me a cool, measuring gaze.

What was his problem? I met his gaze steadily. “Sort of happened organically while we were talking to the pastor. Although it was something we’ve talked about—or around—before.”

Kayla frowned. “That’s not very romantic.”

“I’m fine with it.” Sunshine took my hand. “That’s all that matters, really.”

Tristan turned his gaze on Sunshine.

I bristled. “Leave it alone, man.”

“I assume you’ll be fine signing a prenup?”

I glared at Tristan. “I said to—”

“It’s okay.” Sunshine squeezed my hand. She looked at Tristan. “If that’s what Wes wants? Absolutely. I’m not after his money. I do fine on my own. Maybe not to the level you all do, but I have a house. A boat. A job that gives me an income when I want it and freedom when I don’t. I’m giving up a lot to move here. And I’m fine with that, too. Because Wes is enough. And I’ll be sad if me loving him causes a problem with your friendship, but I won’t walk away because of it. That’ll be for you and Wes to fix.”

Tristan cocked his head to the side and nodded once before opening his menu.

“Hear, hear.” Whitney shot Sunshine a supportive grin. “Congratulations, you two.”

I leaned close to Sunshine and lowered my voice as the rest of the group chattered with one another at a volume that suggested they were going out of their way to be cheerful. “I’m sorry.”

“No. Don’t be.” She leaned in and kissed me. “I love you, not your bank account.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and closed my eyes. I rested my forehead on hers and sent up a silent prayer of thanksgiving for bringing her into my life.

“Are we ready to order?” The server’s cheerful greeting cut through the conversation.

Lunch passed quickly. The food was good and the conversation wasn’t as stilted as I’d worried it would be after Tristan’s little hissy fit. He wouldn’t make eye contact with me. Hopefully that meant he knew he’d crossed a line.
