“Because right before I woke you up, another girl was reported missing in Chicago. Two days in a row. I called Declan. He will be waiting for you at the airport.”

The elevator comes to a stop and we step out.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Enzo asks, frowning as he approaches.

“She’s in full-blown labor. If we don’t get her to the hospital,, we will be playing rock paper scissors who gets to catch the little prince,” I say, pointing at her stomach.

Enzo tosses the drinks in the trash next to him and rushes forward.

Greer whimpers. “I really wanted that.”

“Did you call Killian?” Enzo asks as he grabs onto her arm.

“He will meet us there.” Before she can say anything else, she cries out and comes to a stop.

I hear something hit the tile floor and look down.

“Uh, Greer…” I say hesitantly. “Did you just pee your pants?”

Enzo reaches over and hits the back of my head. “Her water broke, you idiot.”

“Dammit, I really loved these shoes, and now they’re ruined!” she cries out.

“It’s okay, I’ll have Danica go out and get you another pair. Now let’s hurry,” he says softly as he pushes her forward.

“Do you promise?”

“I do,” he says as we step outside.

We walk her forward and help her into the car.

I move to get in, only for Greer to block me. “Airport, remember?”

“Right.” I shake my head. “What time’s my flight?”

“In an hour and a half. If you leave now, you might be able to make it in time.” She cringes.

“Okay,” I say as I look up and down the street for a cab. “Keep me updated on all of that,” I say, waving my finger toward her stomach.

“Will do,” Enzo says as he gets into the car.

He slams the door shut, and the car pulls out.

I run my hands through my hair and look up at the sky. Holy shit, talk about a way to wake up.

A car comes to a stop next to me with the window down.

“Hey, are you Tristano?” the driver asks.

“Yeah…”

“A dude named Greer scheduled a ride to the airport for you.”

“Woman,” I correct him as I reach for the door and get in.

“Huh, weird name for a girl,” he mumbles under his breath.

As he drives, the reality sets in.
