My eyes instantly drop down to her ass. Fuck is it a nice one. My mind races with the possibilities of what we could do with her on her hands and knees, just like this, only naked.

“Hey,” she says, snapping her fingers toward my face.

I shake my head. “Sorry, what did you say?”

“Like what you see?” she teases.

“Anima gemella, you know I do. There’s no need to fish for compliments.”

I watch as a beautiful blush covers her cheeks. Yeah, I’m definitely going to make her do that every day too.

ChapterThirteen

Ilook out the window at the street as we pass. This isn’t the neighborhood I pictured Tristano living in. I thought it would be all gangs and gun violence. Instead, there’s a couple swinging a child between them as they go on a stroll. Across the street, an elderly lady is carrying her groceries. A young kid rushes up to help her as she almost drops it.

This is picturesque. Not at all the life I imagined every time I spoke with him on the phone.

Yet here we are. Riding out to meet not one, but two heads of the family.

I swallow hard, my nerves getting the best of me.

“Fuck,” I mutter under my breath as he makes another turn, this one leading to a gated home.

“You good?” Tristano asks as he nods to the guard at the gate.

“Yeah,” I manage to breathe out.

You are so far from good it’s not even funny.

My chest is tight. These people have the ability to tell me to never see Tristano again. Even worse, they could order my death.

Tristano takes my hand. “It’s okay to not be okay, anima gemella.I won’t let anything happen to you.”

I give him a small nod as he parks. Then he gets out of the car, coming around to open my door.

I let him help me out as he escorted me up to the beautiful home. The door opens before we can even get there.

“Tristano. Such a treat to have you actually stop by for once. You know, I was starting to wonder if you had died,” the gorgeous dark-haired beauty chastises as she pulls him into a hug.

A twinge of jealousy hits. Who is this woman? She looks familiar, but I can’t tell why. Has he slept with her? Does he want to? She sure is pretty.

“Sofia, you know I’ve had responsibilities.” He pulls back, moving to my side. “Please meet my girl, Serena. Serena, this is Bash’s wife, Sofia.”

“Pleasure to meet you, dear. Maybe you can make sure he checks in a bit more often. Quite rude letting others think you are dead.” She glares at him.

He only chuckles.

“Your husband knows what I’m doing at all times,” Tris argues.

“Tesoro, please let them in past the door. We do have things we need to discuss.”

The dark-haired man that walks into the foyer is one that I would recognize anywhere. Bastiano Catalini, head of the Catalini crime family. He’s known for being ruthless yet fair. He handles all his business in such a manner that the FBI, CIA, and local government haven’t been able to pin a single thing on him. Seems he learned from his father’s mistake and built an empire. One where none of his men nor the residents in his city will even speak his name without praising him to the high heavens.

That’s intimidating as fuck.

Hell, politicians could learn a thing or two from him.

“Of course. Let’s go to the meeting room. Greer will be here momentarily. Seems the little one gave her some issues,” Sofia adds, leading us down the hall into a room.
