“That’s your job as my husband,” Greer chimes in.

“You should see the baby wrap I got for the office,” I tell them, excitement flowing through me at the thought of holding little man on me while I walk.

The only thing that would make it better is if he weren’t just my nephew. No, the thought of my own little man in my arms has my heart beating faster as I look at the beauty next to me.

We could have kids together.

Greer laughs as Serena shakes her head with a smile on her face.

“Nothing you say surprises me anymore,” Sofia says, walking back into the room.

“I’m the only one with a chair that leans back. I figured I could hold the little guy when Greer needs a break and work at the same time, or take a nap when he does. They say you’re supposed to sleep when they do,” I tell them, trying not to get lost in the sudden feeling in my chest.

“Who said he’s going to work with her? Maybe I’m going to take him.” Killian sounds offended.

Greer and I scoff at the same time.

“Please, like momma bear would let you take this little guy out of her sight more than necessary,” I tell him.

“How did we go from taking down a sex trafficking ring to who’s on baby duty?” Bash jokes.

“Welcome to the family, Serena. We work hard but play harder and apparently get off topic at the drop of a hat,” I quip.

I look over at Serena and see a beautiful blush covering her cheeks.

I can’t wait to make her flush for other reasons. The best reasons.

“How about dinner? I almost have it ready.” Sofia ushers us all into the dining room.

I smile as I trail behind, watching Serena smile as Greer chats with her.

For once, I feel like I’m actually happy and not just faking it.

“Just keep taking deep breaths. Don’t get lost,” the man says.

I’m not with him right now though. No, I’m back in the shipping container. I can hear Olivia crying next to me.

“Zamknij ich.”

“What is that?” I hear the man ask.

“Something I heard them say,” I whisper.

My body starts to shake, the coldness seeping back into me.

“I think we are done for now. We have enough. Come back to us slowly. First, tell me what you smell in the room.”

“The lavender candle you lit before we started.”

“Good. Now when I count to three, I want you to open your eyes. One, two, three.”

I open my eyes. The room is dim. It’s not exactly hypnotherapy, but Greer thought it might help. I didn’t recognize any of the languages they played for me. None of the phrases they played were ever used, so while some sounded familiar, they could be from any European country. This was the second option. Using someone to try and pull some memories from me.

As I sit up, I look over as Greer leads the man to the door.

“Thank you for doing this on such short notice, Dorian.” Greer smiles as she shakes the therapist’s hand.
