“No, is it good?”

Greer and Enzo chuckle. “I hope so,” she says with laughter in her voice.

The hostess’s eyes widen when they see Greer, and she starts to scramble.

“Mrs. O’Reilly, how are you today?” the hostess asks.

“I’m fine, just two for today. Enzo would like a seat at the bar,” Greer tells her.

“Of course.”

The hostess nods her head so fast she looks like a bobblehead.

Enzo breaks off and heads to the bar as we walk toward a table.

“Is this okay?” the hostess asks hesitantly.

“This is fine. Thank you,” Greer tells her as she takes a seat facing the front of the restaurant, even though we are tucked out of view.

I can feel the corner of my eye twitch at the thought of sitting with my back toward the entrance, but I suck it up. I sure as hell won’t cause a scene over something like this.

It’s not like you carry a gun anymore.A little voice in my head whispers.

I look around the restaurant and spot Enzo easily. He’s sitting so he has a direct view of us and the front. Lucky bastard.

“So what’s good here?” I ask as I pick up the menu.

“Everything,” a server says as she approaches with a smile on her face.

“Izzy, I’m surprised to see you working,” Greer says.

Izzy shrugs. “Someone called in and they were short-staffed. It gave me a reason to leave the house and let Gio take care of the kids.”

Greer laughs. “Like he wouldn’t have if you asked.”

Izzy smiles with a love-sick look on her face as she thinks about her husband. “True.”

Greer looks at me. “I’m sorry, we get so carried away. You remember Izzy from the other night?”

“Of course. Great to see you again.”

Izzy and her husband Giovanni joined us for dinner. It was an impromptu thing, but I still enjoyed it. I could feel the love flowing between them all, even with Killian being there from another family. All I could think was how badly I wanted to belong there.

Maybe this is my shot. I just need to make Greer see that I am serious about Tristano and the family.

She waves her hand toward me. “It’s nice to see you as well. Now tell me, what would you two like to drink?”

“Water for me.”

“Same.” I smile at her.

“Awesome, I’ll be back shortly with those and to take your order.”

Izzy walks away and Greer turns toward me and just stares. I hold her gaze as I fight the urge to squirm. Slowly a smile spreads across her face.

“I like you.”

“Thank you?” My brows furrow. That’s not what I was expecting her to say.
