I’m burning with the need to bury myself inside her. But it’s good to know I haven’t fully turned feral.
With superhuman effort I didn’t know I possessed, I pull back and press our foreheads together, me still hunching over her.
“You understand why I had to punish you?”
“I have an idea but tell me anyway.”
“Because no one gets to see these parts of you except for me. I’ll bundle you in a blanket every time you step out the door if I can,” I tell her. “Are you still leaving in this?”
“No. I’m not even going to the damn party anymore.”
“Good girl.”

“What areyou planning to do now, Raven?”
“Put my degree to use.”
“What did you major in?”
“Business management. I did see lots of job openings around here, so I guess I’d start applying on Monday.”
“If you need my help, I can call some of my friends.”
“Okay, but I have to try on my own first. By the way, you have a beautiful place, Rowan. I really like it.”
I’m sitting in front of the onyx countertop, watching as she flips pancakes. After that hot first kiss, I realized it must be too much too soon for her, so I asked if she was hungry.
Instead of just saying yes, she offered to cook for me. I wasn’t up for something heavy, so she decided on a breakfast plate…at 9 PM.
But sure. Whatever my girl wants. She can serve me a piece of cardboard, and I’ll eat it with a smile.
“Thanks. It was one of my first projects actually. I wanted a place of my own but didn’t want to commit to a big house.”
“It’s lovely, but it can use a woman’s touch.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yes.” She smiles and piles five pancakes on my plate before turning around to start with the bacon.
“I mean, sure. Do you like it here?”
“Maybe.”
“Maybe?”
“It’s nice and all. But…”
“Don’t you want to live here?”
With a pair of tongs, she flips the bacon to the other side and it sizzles. “I do. For a while maybe.”
“Why is that?”
She turns to me and leans against the sink. “I’m a white picket fence kind of gal.”
With my fingers interlocked and resting on the counter, I raise a brow. “Explain.”
