Seong Hun offered a slight bow, then his hand, in welcome. Jason took it first. “Hello, I’m–”

“Jason Park, yeah.” Seong Hun grinned. “I know you.” He turned to Tae Hyun. “And Woo Tae Hyun. It’s a privilege to meet you both, but what are you doing here?”

Jason snorted. “What? We can’t go out?” He tapped Seong Min on the shoulder. “This place comes highly recommended.”

Seong Hun frowned. “You know this is a gay club, right?”

Tae Hyun laughed. “You know we’re gay, right?”

Seong Hun leaned back as a cloud of concern briefly dampened his enthusiasm. Then his smile returned with a vengeance. “Well, alright. Welcome!” He leaned in close, whispering something to Seong Min, who nodded. “He’ll take you to a VIP booth. And I’ll have drinks sent over.” He grinned again. “I’m so happy you’re here!”

Seong Hyeon showed up just as the group sat in their VIP booth. It was tiny, just big enough for the four of them. Seong Hun appeared soon after that with a bottle of Kingston and four glasses. Jason was immediately sold. Then Seong Hun asked to take a picture with Tae Hyun and Jason. Tae Hyun looked at Jason, silently asking his permission. Jason shrugged and nodded before climbing out of the booth. He knew that was when people would probably recognize Tae Hyun. But that’s what the gay fucking idol wanted. Jason hoped he didn’t regret it.

Seong Hun posed between Jason and Tae Hyun, putting his arms around their shoulders, while Seong Min snapped a few photos with his brother’s phone. Sure enough, the boys at the next table figured out who they were and immediately started fangirling. So Tae Hyun, ever the master of fan service, agreed to pose for photos with them, too. Jason chuckled as he grabbed the Kingston bottle, served himself a generous pour, and swallowed it in one go.

“So, you think you’re one of us, now?”

Jason wasn’t quite sure he’d heard the question correctly over the loud music. But he recognized the tone well enough. He turned around, automatically squaring his shoulders and straightening his posture. Jason doubted someone would be stupid enough to fight him there, but you never knew.

The speaker was a short, skinny, nondescript guy, probably Jason’s age, whose casual sneer and sweat-stained shirt meant his beer muscles were doing the talking.

“What’s that?”

“You think you’re one of us now.” Shorty defiantly lifted his chin in a way that nearly made Jason laugh. “You think you can just show up here and be accepted by us just because you came out.”

They were accusations, not questions. But Jason saw right away that Shorty was no physical threat. He must’ve thought Jason and Tae Hyun were intruding on his turf and had something to say about it.

Jason leaned in close enough to be heard, staying far enough away to be non-threatening, a product of all the time he spent around Tae Hyun. “Let me ask you something, friend.” He paused until Shorty nodded. “Are you out?”

“What?”

“You heard me. Are you out? At work, to your family, to your friends. Do they know you’re gay?”

Shorty frowned as he processed Jason’s questions. Then he shook his head. “No. Of course not.”

Jason smiled. “Well, I am. There’s not a single place I can go in this whole world where I’m not an out gay man. So, if anything, I’d say I belong here even more than you.”

Shorty’s frown deepened as he considered what Jason just said. Then his eyes went wide with a shameful realization. Shorty quickly bowed. “I’m sorry. That was so rude of me.”

Jason reached out to touch Shorty’s shoulder. “It’s okay. You don’t think I know that us being here is a big deal? So, no harm done.”

Jason ended up posing for photos with Shorty, whose name was actually Ji Hu, and his friends. A year ago, he would’ve verbally shamed Ji Hu into a confrontation, then kicked the shit out of him in front of his friends. But that was the old Jason. The new Jason saved the violence for last–and only when he really needed it. Like when his future father-in-law thought he could hit his son.

After he returned to the booth, Jason barely had enough time for a second drink before Tae Hyun excitedly grabbed him to go dance. Jason almost said no. By that point, word of who they were had spread through the club, and he knew that a hundred people would be filming him as he danced with a fucking K-pop idol. But he smiled and said yes anyway. He’d already offered to march to the gates of hell with Tae Hyun. He could stomach some time on the dance floor.

Watching Tae Hyun move to the music, even on a crowded dance floor, was something of a religious experience. It was fitting that they were in a club called Church. Jason loved Tae Hyun’s voice and listening to him sing. But Tae Hyun’s effortless sensuality and phenomenal body awareness was a killer combo that struck Jason down every time. He didn’t bother trying to keep up as he watched Tae Hyun get lost in the music. And he eventually backed away as a circle started to open around Tae Hyun, giving him the space he needed to show off.

Tae Hyun kept up the performance for the rest of the song before noticing Jason had moved away. He smiled as he approached Jason and put his arms over his shoulders. “Is it alright if I kiss my boyfriend right here, right now?”

Jason grinned. “You’d fucking better.”

Tae Hyun stood on his toes and planted his soft, warm lips on Jason’s mouth. Jason wrapped his arms around Tae Hyun and pulled him close as the raucous cheers rose up around them. And he suddenly knew why Tae Hyun insisted they come to the club. Jason had made out with a lot of people. But never in his life had he experienced the overwhelming joy of making out with someone on a dance floor full of screaming gays and their friends. He’d never felt so free. Or in love.

Things began to blur after the kiss. More drinking and dancing as the towering bass pumped through him. Tae Hyun onstage singing a surprisingly sensual karaoke cover of Raven Wild’sYou Put Me Through It. Rushing back to the tank, where Tae Hyun climbed onto Jason’s lap for more kissing. And finally, stumbling through a darkened condo until they found the guest room.

Jason still had the presence of mind to close the door behind him before Tae Hyun attacked him, pressing their mouths and bodies together while Jason blindly navigated their intertwined forms across the room. Tae Hyun gasped when he ran into the bed. Then he chuckled when Jason pushed him onto it.

Jason couldn’t get his clothes off fast enough, struggling to lift his shirt over his head as Tae Hyun fumbled with his belt buckle. His arms were still stuck over his head when Tae Hyun yanked his pants and underwear down. Then Tae Hyun’s warm, wet mouth found his cock, and his knees nearly buckled. Jason pushed through the delirious haze and finally got his shirt off. He reached for Tae Hyun, gently grasping his hair to steady himself as Tae Hyun hungrily devoured him.
