They didn’t even have locks this time around.
“Out the window,” I said and pushed them to it. “Quickly. I will explain once we leave the house but please—” I pulled Amy back, looking her in the eyes. “Pleasetrust me.”
Amy swallowed thickly, before looking toward the other girls.
“Looks like our plans have been moved up,” she said, a sly smile spreading across her face. “Get your shit.”
That was all they needed to spring into action. Lauren and the others darted toward the small corners of the room, lifting pots and pulling up the cushions. Each of them found a small, well-hidden bag full of what I could only assume were bare necessities for their escape.
“You were already planning?” I breathed, awe filling me.
Amy gave me a look.
“For years,” she admitted giving me a look. “You think I was just waiting here for a knight in shining armor to rescue me?” I floundered for a response and she elbowed me lightly. “You do look pretty good for my knight though.”
The door burst open, causing the girls to pause.
“I knew you bitches were up to no good,” a man’s voice said from behind me.
I turned, grabbing the gun from the holster on the back of my pants and aiming toward him.
But I had been too slow. He charged, hitting the gun out of my hand and knocking me to the ground with one push.
“Run! The window!” I commanded the girls.
I recognized the man. One from many years ago, though before he was but a foot soldier.
I didn’t want to know what he did to get promoted.
I readied myself to attack only to see Quinn come up from behind him, her face clouded in shadows. Her blue eyes were in stark contrast to the rest of her and made her look like some sort of demon hiding behind him.
In one, smooth movement she dragged a shiny dagger across his throat and pushed him to the ground. Only then did I get a good look at her blood-splattered face.
She pulled down her face make, exposing her wicked grin to the world.
I shouldn’t have been so turned on by her covered in blood…but I was.
Everything about her at that moment just reminded me how hard I fell for her in the first place.
“I told you I had your back, baby,” she said and leaned down with her hand out.
I couldn’t help but return her smile as she pulled me up.
“I never doubted you for a second,” I said and turned back to the women. “Now let’s get a move on. Just beyond those walls awaits a new life.”
The same life I took my force. The same one that led me to Quinn.
And the one that I never trade for anything… no matter how sick and twisted we may have turned out.
Bonus Epilogue
Blake
It was surreal, seeing the club I once loved towering over me again.
When we had left, I had thought for sure I would never see it again, but Quinn still had some surprises up her sleeve.
“I can’t believe you,” I whispered sending her a smile.
