“Not at the moment. My stomach is still upset from what happened.”
He nodded. “I get it. There is leftover spaghetti in case you want something to eat.”
“Thanks.”
At the warehouse, Jeff parked in the back. Blair liked that no one would be watching her go into their place since the building bordered the woods. “Do you think someone can come through the woods and break into the warehouse?”
He chuckled. Actually, chuckled. “Whoever would be dumb enough to try would be in for a surprise. I’ll leave it at that.”
“Good.” That made her feel safe.
Jeff pulled out a key to the loft. “I made you a copy, in case you ever need it.”
Blair wasn’t sure what to say. Was he thinking she’d be there a long time? “Thanks.”
“I figured, Avery might whisk you away for a night of fun, and you need to get back in.”
“Oh.” That wasn’t what she was hoping he meant by the offer, but she was glad he trusted her enough to give it to her.
“Any idea when I get to see your plans for the place?” he asked.
Blair smiled. “As a matter of fact, I have the drawings with me. I’ll show them to you now, and you can tell me what you’d like to change.”
He unlocked the loft door with his key and motioned her in. “I don’t want to change anything.”
Blair spun around. “You haven’t seen what I have planned.”
“Do you like it?”
That was a silly question. “Of course. Avery helped me design it. It’s luxurious, calming, yet masculine at the same time.”
Jeff slipped her purse from her fingers and set it on the floor. “Would a woman like it here?” His gaze bored into her.
“I would like it. The master bathroom is a bit decadent, but the spare bedroom is rather standard, or should I say more masculine.”
“Good. Then let’s go with it.” He didn’t break eye contact.
“Jeff, what’s going on?”
He slipped off her sweater and tossed it over the living room sofa. “This.”
When he leaned over, he pulled her into a tight embrace and kissed her. Blair’s world spun. Normally, she was the type to talk about what was about to happen, but she didn't need to with Jeff. Ever since last night with Zane, she’d wondered what Jeff would be like.
He slipped his hands under her butt and lifted her up. Without breaking the kiss, he carried her into the bedroom. In a quick move, he spun around and fell onto the bed with her on top.
Blair had to break the kiss, partly because she feared her heart might burst, and partly because she wanted to be naked sooner rather than later. “We’re dressed. Can you help me do something about that?”
Jeff grinned, and his eyes flashed yellow for a moment and then returned to brown. That was really strange, but she had other things to think about that were more important than asking him about it.
“How about we start with our shoes?” he said.
In a flash, they ditched them. Then Jeff stood, lifted his T-shirt over his head, and tossed it behind him. Her mouth went dry. She thought Zane was amazing, but Jeff might be more muscular.
“Come here,” she commanded.
One side of his mouth quirked up. “Are you in charge now?”
“Yes. Well, not exactly. We’re both in charge.”
