KNOX

A door slamming hasme pulling my gaze away from the thoroughly fucked beauty sleeping soundly next to me, and carefully reaching for my cell phone on the tiny nightstand. My brother’s apartment is great, but it’s not as big as the one I live in.

I quietly and cautiously unwrap Wren’s legs from mine and place her head gently on the pillow. I itch to stretch as I climb out of bed, but wait until I’ve pulled my boxers on and padded out into the living space to do so, letting out a sated yawn.

Scott stops in his tracks. Takes in my attire and scrubs his hands over his face closing the fridge door.

“Where do I need to bleach?”

“Just your room,” I say as I near him. “We broke in that squeaky bed of yours. It needed to finally see some action.”

His reflexes are lightning quick, and he has me in a headlock before I can even blink.

“That bed has seen more pussy than you’ve had hot dinners, Little Brother. When they’re looking for the brother who knows what he’s doing and not a one-pump chump, they come to me.”

He talks close to my face, purposely sputtering so my ear gets wet. The fucker.

“Urgh,” I shove at him until he releases me and wipe at my ear frantically. He laughs like the asshole he is and carries on with what he was doing, which is pulling food out of the fridge.

“Aww, you’re making breakfast for me?”

“Sit down and watch how it’s done. Your girl has hollow legs when it comes to food.”

That makes me smile. Back when we were younger, she had a hunger for life that couldn’t be satisfied. She inhaled food like she was never going to eat again and consumed knowledge like an addict. Now I’m letting myself look back at our time together, she practically basked in the love I showed her.

I’m glad she still has an appetite.

I watch Scott pour the liquid egg whites into a bowl, all the while wondering why he’s even bothering when Jenna’s bakery is literally around the corner.

“Why you even cookin’ in the first place? Don’t you have a girl that’s like a—”

Before I can finish my question, said girl comes floating through his front door with—and I shit you not—a bread basket perched on her forearm. I cover my mouth with my hand to keep from laughing out loud.

She stutters in her step when she sees me sitting at his stone counter. Last time I saw her, I dumped her in the enemy column.

“Come on in, Jenna. Come on,” I beckon her with wide-open arms which she rolls her eyes at.

She continues until she’s next to me and I pull her into me for a hug. Giving her face an extra squish against my chest. I swear, I’ve never seen Scott move so fast and practically snatch her out of my arms, taking the basket with his other hand.

Shock streaks across her pretty face for a second but then he’s searching through the freshly baked breakfast pastries and setting them out on plates. She shakes her head and plasters on a smile.

He’s so dumb.

“Heard you were here, so thought I’d bring over some morning treats. Where is Wren?”

“Catching up on the sleep she missed last night.” I pump my eye brows at her and she rolls her eyes at me again.

“I’m not. I’m here.”

My eyes snap in the direction of Wren’s drowsy voice, and my breath catches in my chest as she pads towards us.

She’s a sight. All rosy cheeks, sparkly eyes, and a sleepy smile offset by the craziest, messiest bedhead ever and the t-shirt she’s wearing, my t-shirt, is completely askew.

Adorableandsexytumbles around in my head as she slips between my legs that immediately part for her to perch in.

I nuzzle into her neck from behind and she hums. After a few big inhales of her peach-soft skin, I look up to find Scott and Jenna staring at me with puzzled expressions.

I frown and go to open my mouth, but they speak over each other at the same time,
