“Ugh,” he groaned, “why do you insist on calling me that?”

“Because you are.” I sing-songed, “And because it makes me laugh, imagining your face everytime I say it.”

“Ha-Ha.” He said in a mocking tone. “What are you doing tonight?”

“I’m actually heading to Xavier’s for game night. Why?”

“Can I come over after? I’ve got something to show you.”

“Ominous…” I answered, “But I’ll bite, I’ll let you know when I’m home.”

“Promises, promises.” He tisked, and ended the call.

The Uber to Xavier’s was quiet, the driver girl didn’t talk, and I didn’t either. When we arrived I offered her a cash tip and slipped out of the car. I was ready to just relax after the past few events as of late. We’d all been busy with Haven and Adrian lately, it was nice to have time for just us.

His house was always decorated to the nines. Pumpkins and wreaths, twigs and miniature hay bales dotted the front porch. Against the blue of his house it was the perfect fall palette.

Xavier threw open the front door and pulled me into his cozy home. His twin, Penelope, was perched on the edge of his couch.

“Oh my! Penelope! I didn’t know you were in town.” I squeezed her up in a hug and Xavier set about throwing dishes around.

“I made my woo-woos!” Xavier hollered, like his house was ten times bigger than it actually was.

“We hear you, old queer one!” Penelope shouted back.

Her sass always elicited laughter, and her loving endearment of his sexuality never failed to be funny. He loved it, like his own personal moniker. He brought us two iridescent glasses of pink liquid and winked before getting into a heated discussion with Penelope. I swapped out my alcohol for water. No way was I taking any more chances with our baby.

Xavier and I gossiped about Bell and Aaron, all good things, of course we had to fill Penelope in. Especially if she was staying in town after finishing school.

When Bellamy and Aaron got there, the place heated up with fun quips and equally funny trash talk. We played round after round of games, ate and just enjoyed each other’s company.

Penelope had gotten a new game, one with a wheel of letters and cards. The alphabet was mixed in black toggles around the blue device, Xavier read the directions and we set about figuring out who would start.

Category cards ranged from ‘fruits’ to ‘something hard’, which made us all a giggle. Xavier, unable to help himself, picked the category labeled ‘something hard’ and hit the timer. As it clicked we went around the table shouting and laughing, holding our sides.

Xavier slammed down the letter P and hollered “PENIS”.

Bellamy hit the letter D and yelled “DICK”.

When it came to me, I cleverly pressed the letter A and called out “ASS”.

We all doubled over, because I loved a good firm ass. You could catch me talking about Henry Cavil’s ass any day of the week.

“You dirty girly!” Xavier winked.

“You said penis!” I countered as Penelope and Bellamy swiped their eyes with their sweaters. “We all know who the pervert is here.”

That sent us all into another laughing fit, we ate snacks and passed around life stories to catch up.

Bellamy dropped news about her parents, and I felt guilty for not sharing my secret.

It wasn’t that I didn’t trust them, because I did. With my life.

I just wasn’t ready to answer questions I was still trying to answer myself.

After Bellamy and Aaron left, I followed, letting Finn know I was on my way back to my apartment.

I was excited for whatever this surprise was.
