“You didn’t get to pick the furniture in your room. If you don’t like it you can get a different set.”

“Finn.” I said, pushing Xavier away from us. “We need to talk about this.”

Xavier picked up on my not so subtle hint and began searching the other bedroom options.

“Ronnie, I thought we went over this.”

“No, no.” I said, wiggling a finger back and forth between us. “I told you I wanted you in the master bedroom with me andyousaid I was being rash, who uses that word anymore? Then I threw a spoon at your head and went to bed.” I sighed, “This conversation needs to happen Finn, and I need you to hear me.”

He looked straight into my eyes searching for something. “You don’t have to…”

“I’m not.” I interrupted. “I want to try, with you. I want to tryus.”

It was his turn to be surprised. He raised his eyebrows and ran his other hand over his face. “I don’t want to rush you.”

“It’s a little late for that, party boy.” I laughed and squeezed his hand.

He dipped his head down and kissed my forehead, it was sweet, and I felt like a princess when he pulled back and looked at me like I was the moon in his sky.

Shopping wore me out, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Finn and I had made a pretty big leap. Sharing a room and sleeping together, without actually having sex felt more intimate than I’d ever been with anyone.

Ever.

Xavier skedaddled soon after we got back to the house. I was grateful considering I had fallen asleep on the way back, only to be woken up by Xavier declaring his departure.

Finn side eyed him with a death glare as I blinked my eyes open. He helped me out of the truck and didn’t let go of my hand until he tucked me into the bed. The furniture we’d picked out wouldn’t be delivered until later today, and I wanted to be awake for it.

Afternoon sun filtered in through our curtainless windows when I opened my eyes. I could hear the hum of a truck in the driveway and threw the covers off.

As fast as my pregnant ass could safely go, I flew down the stairs, watching the people unload all of our new furniture. It was surreal that this was my life.

That Finn was here, directing the movers where to go, grunting at them when they started in the wrong direction. Drills were fired up, their whir causing my eyes to shift. Curtains were being hung, a beautiful cream velvet that I found at a second hand store I begged Finn to take me into.

We found just enough panels to hang on the front windows downstairs. I was so excited I almost peed myself, or maybe that was the baby kicking again.

I squealed a little, drawing Finn’s attention. His smile spread and I gave him a goofy one to match. Finn must have a direct number to Big-People-R-Us because the movers were huge. I couldn’t help trying to watch all of them.

Finn’s arms slid around my belly, lifting it slowly and giving my body a much needed break. I sighed as he held my baby belly and leaned his chin on the top of my head.

Two of the movers brought in the dining room table I’d chosen, a vintage wooden piece that had been refinished. The scrollwork on the legs is what sold me. Flowers that reminded me of Finn’s tattoos were carved into the surface, vines trailed up the legs and gripped the top that was glossy and black.

My eyes trailed after another mover, this time a woman, who brought in the entertainment center in three pieces. Book shelves lined the upper half with room for the television in the center, and cabinets finished off the bottom. She drilled them all together and into the wall before turning and starting on another project.

“Is everything how you envisioned it would be?” Finn whispered in my ear.

I nodded, “Even better.”

Once everything was in the house and the movers had all gone, we settled in the nursery, where I sat in the new rocking chair Finn insisted we buy. He leaned against the door frame, watching me as I ran a hand absentmindedly over my bump.

“Penny for your thoughts?”

“We’re doing this.” I stated. “We’re really giving this a try.”

He nodded, and his eyes crinkled in the corners. “We really are.”

“Xavier wants to do maternity pictures with us.”

“Okay,” he said, stepping into the room. “Is that what you want?”
